JMCK 63 PART OF THE 20 DIFFERENT DIVISIONS COMPETING AT OKTOBERFEST

OKTOBERFEST RACE WEEKEND PR
The four days that will make up the 41st Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will be busy as Fest officials have announced that 20 different divisions will be competing this year. One of those divisions is a new event in honor of the late John McKarns.

The JMCK 63 will take place on Sunday, October 10th. The event will use Big-8 Series style rules and its an invitational featuring past Big-8 Series winners. The 63-lap event will run in three 21-lap segments, just like the Dick Trickle 99 event. A format that McKarns loved when he introduced it to Oktoberfest in 2007. The only difference is that the first segment will be lined up by a draw rather than qualifying. The second and third segments will be lined up using the same format as the Dick Trickle 99. The second segment will line up with a field inversion and the third with a wheel spin or dice roll.

“We wanted to come up with a unique event to honor John McKarns,” Chuck Deery, Oktoberfest Promoter said. “Gregg McKarns and I sat down thought about what would make John smile and we came up with this event. I think everyone will enjoy this race.”

The 41st Annual event will kickoff on Thursday, October 7th with eight divisions in action with heats and feature events. The Thunderstox will compete in a 15-lap feature along with the RAYS (Run All Your Stuff) 15-lap feature event. The Hornets vs. Bandits 15-lap feature also take on La Crosse’s quarter-mile oval. The La Crosse Sportsmen 20-lap feature is also on the schedule along with the Super Late Futures 25-lap feature. The La Crosse Late Models 50-lap main event will highlight the evening’s action followed by the popular Double-O feature event. The popular After-Race party will close out the first day of action. Racing starts at 6:00 p.m.

Three divisions will be in action on Friday, October 8th with the fourth annual Dick Trickle 99 Super Late Model race. Modeled after the famous Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT, the three 33-lap segment event has quickly become a fan favorite at Oktoberfest. The first segment will have the cars lining straight up based on their qualifying times. The second segment will see a full invert. The third will be determined by the spin of the wheel. Remember in this race, its not who crosses the line first that wins, it’s who has the lowest score, as drivers will earn points for each segment. One for first, two for second, and so on. The Stubby 49 1/2-lap feature will also be contested for those Super Lates that don’t make the Dick Trickle 99. The Area Sportsmen and Super Sportsmen will each have a 25-lap feature as well. Racing starts at 5:00 p.m.

Four divisions will be in action on Saturday, October 9th. The American Speed Association Midwest Tour will have their qualifying, heats, and qualifying races. The ASA LATE MODEL SERIES will have a 100-lap feature event. The Big 8 Series will have their annual 48-lap feature. The Mid-American Series will cap off their season with a 30-lap feature event. There will also be heats and last chance races. The action gets underway at 4 p.m.

Also, on Saturday night there will be a special sunset memorial remembrance for John & Sue McKarns.

The final day of racing will get underway at noon on Sunday, October 10th with the American Speed Association Midwest Tour Oktoberfest 100 main event. The JMCK 63 will make it’s debut. The American Speed Association Midwest Truck Tour will have a 25-lap feature event. StingRAYS will have a 15-lap feature. The popular Vintage Cars will be back to compete. And 75-lap 4-cylinder Enduro will bring the 41st Annual event to a close.

Nine of the 20 divisions will crown their 2010 champions at Oktoberfest.
