Rossburg, OH—May 8, 2009—The opener of the World of Outlaws doubleheader weekend at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio on Friday fell to rain. With four heat races in the books, the persistent rains started and were followed by a downpour, forcing track and series officials to cancel the racing program.
The night began with three-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz setting fast time of the 36 cars that took to the blazing fast high-banked half-mile. Jason Sides, Kerry Madsen, Sammy Swindell and Sam Hafertepe Jr. won heat races. Kraig Kinser was scheduled to start on the pole in the Crane Cams Dash driving for track owner Tony Stewart's team.
