TJ’s Tire adds $250 to Diamond Mountain purse for EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Modified Tour

VERNAL, Utah (May 10) – Diamond Mountain Speedway is the next destination for the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour.

The second doubleheader of the IMCA Modified series will be Friday and Saturday, May 15-16 at the Vernal venue. TJ’s Tire of Roosevelt, Utah, will contribute $250 to the winner’s share of the purse both nights.

A minimum top prize of $1,000 will be paid, guaranteeing each winner a spot on the 2009 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Car counts of 40 or more make the features $1,250 to win affairs. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded both nights

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Friday, the 6 p.m drivers’ meeting precedes hot laps and racing starts at 7 p.m. On Saturday, gates to the pit area open at 10 a.m., hot laps follow the noon drivers’ meet ing and racing gets underway at 1 p.m.

Transponders are required and may be rented for $15.

Pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for kids 5-12, and four and under get in free.

A record 66 drivers saw action when the tour opened April 24-25 at Aztec, N.M., Speed way. Two-time and defending series champion Ricky Alvarado won both events, pushing his career total to 19 wins on the circuit.

A pair of those victories came at Diamond Mountain, in the 2007 and 2008 series open ers.

Fourteen races are on the 2009 EQ Wild West schedule. The tour returns to Utah for its next twinbill, on Friday and Saturday, June 12-13 at Desert Thunder Raceway in Price.
