Sun, Rain and sorrow top this weeks racing.

The sun was great all day Friday waiting for race night at Madison Int'l Speedway for there first weekly night of the 09 season but buy 5:00 clouds start rolling in. Over 60 cars showed and running a little late they ran almost 6 of the 9 heat races got through before the rains came and called the show.

Saturday turned out to be a shortened day for me. Starting with the 3rd Annual Cars On State Street here in Madison the event was going to be bigger then in the past with 150+ cars but the weather knock the car count down to around 100 but still a good crowd was there for the event run with the weekly farmers market.

Was headed next to the Madison Water Utility Open House but could not get close as they were having a recycling event at the Aliant Energy Coliseum parking lot. What a mess cars every were luckily I made it around it and went on to a special event at the Capital City Hurley-Davidson-Buell. They were doing test rides had a band and discounts on Idem. (Got my brother something for his Birthday.) Then headed home to get ready for tonight's races but got a call that Jefferson and the Dells we consoled so I stayed home and watch the NASCAR race from Darlington,S.C. (Good going Mark you still make me look good for 50.)

Sunday came it was Mothers day. Got her a stand for her flowers that folds out to make into four holders. (I told her I got her a cell phone as she got two of them that morning. Ha.) Then Dad, mom and I went to Church.

After Church I told them I needed my racing fix and went to Slinger Speedway that afternoon. When I got there it was 56 out side with some sun but a big dark cloud came in the wind came up and some sprinkles, you cold see your breath it had changed so much but buy 2:00 the sun came back.

Over 100 cars showed to race with 26 in the Super Late Models and 16 or less in the other classes. The Super Late Models ended up the way it started with defending champ Lowell Bennett leading from start to finish. The Modifieds turned scary as Russ Mobley climbed the wall in turn 3 and rolled his car. He said he had never rolled or cot fire before all the years he had race now that is out of the way. The Midwest Sportsman feature was cut short after a accident for some reason lot of time to finish don't know why? Took a lap of the pits after the event and headed for home.

The sorrow of the weekend was to hear of racer Jeff Falbe fom Beaver Dam died late Thursday night from having a race car he was working on fall on him. I have seen Jeff race on and off for the last 30 years from Dirt Hobby Stocks to Late Model and have his son and step daughter start racing to. This week I found a key chain I won at his shop some 12 years ago when I just stop buy to see the place now it means more then back then. God Speed Jeff.

This week on the road maybe to Madison Friday, Jefferson Saturday night and Milwaukee Mile late Sunday afternoon.

For now, See ya on the road.

Gary
