Officials from LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway released today the schedule for its 2012 racing season.
"We believe everyone needs to have some good ol’ fashioned American made fun….and that is what our 2012 schedule will provide. Last season we tried some new and fun events, and it went over well with the fans," commented General Manager Chuck Deery. "We plan to continue many of those concepts this season, and try a few more new things as well. We are in the business of having fun…and by gosh, we going to have fun."
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly racing begins on Saturday, April 28th. One addition to the weekly racing schedule is the addition of the Mid-American Stock Car Series to its Saturday racing schedule, on June 2nd. "The Mid-American Stock Car Series drivers love to race at LaCrosse, and this seemed like a great opportunity to have them back. It should be a great night of racing excitement for both the fans and competitors."
In addition to the Mid-American Stock Cars, a new event to take place is the "Star Spangled Spectacular," on Tuesday night, July 3rd. This event features the Big-8 Late Models, the Grand National Sportsmen and the Thunderstox. The evening will end with a huge fireworks extravaganza. "This first-time event should be a great show featuring a longer race for the Big-8 cars. It's kind of an "All-Star Race" being at the middle of the season, at a holiday, and bringing together top drivers from paved tracks all around the region," concluded Deery.
Just a week and a half later, the NASCAR Late Models will run the annual LaCrosse Interstate Fairtime special, featuring two 20-lap feature races, on Saturday, July 14th.
The oval track season will conclude with the 43rd Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend, October 4th-7th, featuring the ASA Midwest Tour, Big-8 Late Models, Mid-American Stock Cars, the Dick Trickle 99 and Futures Super Late Model races, and over 15 different divisions racing in total.
In addition to the oval racing will be the popular "Street Drags," on Friday nights. The Street Drags is entering its sixth consecutive season, and will take place the second Friday night of the month starting in May, and ending in September. Plus, additional events will take place on Saturday, April 21st, the "Spring Spectacular," and the Speedway's final event of 2012, the 300' Bracket Nationals on Saturday, October 13th.
