On a special night at Shawano Speedway when Bobby Bennett and Jerry Muenster were inducted into the Shawano Speedway Hall of Fame, Terry Anvelink, a HOF inductee in 2009, won the WISSOTA Late Model feature. Jason Czarapata won his first IMCA Modified feature of the year, while Shawn Wagner won his second straight IMCA Stock Car feature of the year at the Speedway. A.J. Diemel won his fourth FASTRAK Late Model feature and Jason Guyette won his first IMCA Northern SportMod feature of the year.

Terry Anvelink grabbed the lead on lap three of the WISSOTA Late Model feature with Doug Blashe, Nick Anvelink, Tom Naeyaert and Gordie Seegert following. It stayed that way until lap five when Naeyaert’s car erupted into a fireball on the backstretch due to a broken oil line end. Naeyaert was not injured.

Terry Anvelink continued to lead on the restart only to have a couple of cautions come out around the midway point of the race. On the restart, Nick Anvelink tried to take the lead by ducking to the inside of his father, but Terry Anvelink fended him off. Nick Anvelink stayed in hot pursuit with Seegert, Justin Ritchie and Paul Parker following. With only a couple laps remaining, Nick Anvelink tried his best to take the lead, but couldn’t make the pass, as Terry Anvelink raced to the win.

In the IMCA Modified feature Aaron Milavitz jumped out to the early lead over Tim Van De Hei, Marcus Yarie, Jesse Peeples and Lance Arneson. Arneson moved to fourth on the third lap, as Milavitz, Van De Hei and Yarie raced bumper to bumper. Running the low groove, Jason Czarapata joined the top five on lap seven and began making his way through the top five.

By lap 10 Czarapata was in a side by side battle with Van De Hei for second place. Czarapata quickly disposed of Van De Hei and took the lead from Milavitz one lap later. Once in the lead, Czarapata pulled away from the pack while the rest of the top five jockeyed for position. It was Czarapata cruising to the win with Milavitz, Van De Hei, Brandon Czarapata and Arneson following.

An opening lap accident slowed the IMCA Stock Car feature. Barry Van Straten led the first five laps after the race was restarted. Shawn Wagner ducked underneath Van Straten on lap six to claim the lead. Dan Michonski followed him on the next lap when another caution flag flew.

Michonski immediately began pressuring Wagner for the lead on the restart, trying to make the inside pass several times over the remaining laps but couldn’t make the pass stick. A late race caution made it a two-lap shootout for the win. Wagner and Michonski raced side by side for the remaining two laps with Wagner taking the win by less than a car length. They were followed across the line by Adam Clark, Devin Snellenberger and Nate Michonski. After the race, Snellenberger had his motor claimed by Mike Asenbrener.

In the FASTRAK Late Model feature Joel Bennett led the first three laps of the feature when the only caution of the race took place. Bennett led one lap after the restart before relinquishing the lead to Dave Fieber. A.J. Diemel moved to second one lap later with Brett Swedberg and Justin Hirt rounding out the top five. Over the next several laps Diemel was not able to gain on Fieber.

Fieber began making his way through lapped traffic with four laps remaining, allowing Diemel to cut into the lead a bit. With Fieber running the high groove and Diemel the low groove, Fieber got caught up behind a lapped car on the last lap giving Diemel his opportunity to take the lead on the final lap. Diemel crossed the line first with Fieber, Bennett, Swedberg and Hirt following.

Jason Guyette took the lead from Kevin Bethke on the fourth lap of the IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Chad Guyette took the second spot from Bethke on the next lap, while Clint Forstner began making his way through the top five.

After a restart with five laps remaining Forstner moved to second place setting his sights on Jason Guyette. Forstner went for the lead on the final lap, only to have a caution end the race since the white flag had already been displayed. Jason Guyette took the win with Forstner, Chad Guyette, Travis Van Straten and Troy Jerovetz following.

The Speedway will resume its season, Saturday, July 24, with the racing action getting underway at 6 p.m.
