Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval To Be Season Opener for NWLMT

Marysville, WA (April 19, 2009): The new iRacing.com American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour will be at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval on Saturday night May 2, 2009. This major event at WVSO is the first race for the merged Northwest Tour and Late Model Challenge Series forming the Northwest’s only premier touring division. A new era in Super Late Model Stock Car Racing is set to begin at a track that is steep in history for both former series’.

The combining of these two series is proving to be a strong catalyst in rejuvenating touring division racing in the Northwest. The 10 year old Late Model Challenge Series has been the staple of Late Model racing at WVSO over the last few years. The former Northwest Tour has visited WVSO many times throughout its 26 year history.

The new series is one of three major Super Late Model touring divisions in the country under the umbrella of the American Speed Association. The Northwest joins the Southeast and Mid West as the only regions to have major league Super Late Model Stock Car Racing. The rules packages for all three are similar and all have the same goal. Provide an entertaining night at the races by bringing the best racers and large car counts to each track on their respective schedules. The rules were designed so that no matter what track any of the touring divisions are at, the local competitors from that area can be competitive and be a part of the Big Event at their local track.

Combine the rules package with the iRacing.com ASA NWLMT new commit- line double file restarts, potentially deeper inverts and free pass to a lap-down car at each restart will bring a whole new style of racing to WVSO.

On May 2nd there will not only be the newly formed ASA NWLMT but the Pro 4 Alliance touring division is also on the schedule. The traveling Late Model 4-cylinder powered cars will mark the start of their season. The night has setup to be one of the best ticket values of the year at WVSO.

Jerry Losch Director of Competition for the ASA NWLMT about WVSO, “It is exciting to be at a track I know well and have it be not only our season opening race but in September it will host our season ending championship race. They are two extremely pivotal races in deciding the 2009 championship.”

WVSO has always been a test of machine and man. With its high banks and smooth pavement it is a track that is unforgiving due the high speeds obtained by the Super Late Model race cars. The winner of the 125-lap main on May 2nd will have earned it. The track also tests the crews behind these cars. If you miss the proper set-up it puts an undue burden on their drivers with track position being so important.

The Northwest’s best Super Late Model Stock Car racers are already turning in their pre race registrations. A full field is expected for the season opening race.
