The Midwest is blessed with a variety of racetracks for fans to enjoy and there is one that caters to each fan. But its rare to find a track that caters to a fan who likes the competition a short track gives and the speed of a super speedway. Iowa Speedway in Newton, IA may be a track that can cater to that fan.

The track was designed by ABC/ESPN Racing Analyst and 1989 NASCAR Champion Rusty Wallace. The track is 7/8-mile in length with 12, 13, 14 degree progressive banking in each turn and has seating for up to 30,000 people. But that will increase as they will host its first NASCAR Nationwide Series race later this year.

Its a facility that is not only racer friendly but is fan friendly as well. It’s motto is “America’s Place to Race.” A motto that was created by its management to set as a goal to what they would like their track to be, and they are quickly living up to that motto.

Their theme for 2009 is “Driven To Entertain” and that is achieved by not only hosting some of the top racing series from the United States but to also entertain by hosting some of the best concerts today including Country Stars Jake Owen and Kellie Pickler.

The 2009 season will consist of six action packed weekends and like I said before it got off to a great start already. On June 20-21, the track will welcome the IRL Indy Car Series, Indy Lights and the USAC Midgets. July 10-11 will feature the ARCA Re/Max Series along with the ARCA Truck Series and the Star Mazda Championship Series.

On July 31st and August 1st, Iowa Speedway will welcome the NASCAR Nationwide Series for a 250-lap event along with the USAC Sprint Car and Silver Crown Challenge. And on September 4 and 5 the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Camping World Series West will challenge the tri-oval. And their season will on Saturday, September 19th with the USAR Pro Cup Series and ASA Late Model Series.

The track is owned by U.S. Motorsport Corporation and is located 30 miles east of Des Moines, IA on Interstate 80.
