On a perfect weather night for racing, 102 cars were on hand to race Saturday night at Beaver Dam Raceway. The Modified A Main saw Eddie Lemay Jr. pass Mike Sandholm on lap 10 only to have Sandholm pass Lemay back on lap 16. The next 3 laps saw the pair run side by side with Lemay taking the lead back on the white flag lap, and hold of Sandholm for the victory.
A strong field of 32 Weld Specialty Supply Modifieds was on hand. The heat race winners were; Nick Firari, Rob Schmid, Brad McGuire and Brian Crapser. The B Mains were won by Tim Lemirande over Mike Conn and Joe Jaeger held of Chris Piquette for the win.
The A Main saw Crapser jump out to the lead from his fourth starting position. He led until lap 3 when Firari took the over the point, only to spin in turn 2 to bring out the caution. On the restart Don Scheffler held the top spot for the next 3 laps before Sandholm using the high side got around and to the front. One lap later, Lemay who started 13th went down low to get by Sandholm. The multi-groove track then saw Lemay down low and Sandholm up high with Sandholm regaining the lead on lap 16. The next three laps saw a side by side battle with Lemay taking the top spot as the drivers received the white flag, he held off Sandholm for the win. Mitch McGrath came home in the third spot, followed by Crapser and Scheffler rounded out the top five.
There were 20 Choice Insurance Legend cars on hand to race. The heat races were taken by last weeks feature winner Brian Peterson and Mike Mueller.
The A Main was a caution free event. It saw George Giesen lead the first lap, and then Bethany Wyttenbach led the next two laps, before Peterson took the lead, only to have the two swap the top spot over the next two laps. On lap seven Joel Wyttenbach passed Peterson up high, but two laps later Peterson passed Wyttenbach back on the back stretch. Peterson then held off Wyttenbach as they raced thru several lapped cars to take the victory. Brandon Schmitt chased down Wyttenbach and passed him on the last corner for second. Bethany Wyttenbach held on for fourth place and Joe Johnson finished fifth.
The NAPA Autoparts Street Stocks had 16 cars on hand. The heats races were won by Jeff Schepp and Andy Gross.
The A Main got under way with Gross jumping to the front and leading the first five laps from the pole position. On lap six, Jon Schultz who started seventh, got under Gross going down the back stretch to take the lead. Schultz would go on to claim the victory. Jeremy Schwoch, who’s car received major damage in a heat race accident, worked his way thru the field and finished in the second spot, with Gross holding on for third. Brent Lepple was back in his car this week and took home the fourth spot with Robert Nelson finishing fifth.
The Performance Motorsports Sport Mods had an 11 car field. The heat races were taken by Jeff Steenbergen and Zeke Bishofberger.
The A Main saw Dustin Jackson lead the first three laps, before Bishofberger took over the lead on lap 4. He would lead until lap 14 when 2009 Track Champion for the sport mods, Jeff Schmuhl would get by Bishofberger for the lead going down the back stretch. The races only caution came out on lap 17 for spinning Ray Keyser. On the restart Schmuhl stayed at the point to take the victory. Kenny Richards would get passed Bishofberger for second, Steenbergen would recover from an early race spin to get fourth and last weeks A Main winner Brian Besaw would come home in fifth.
There were 23 Piggly Wiggly of Beaver Dam Grand Nationals on hand. The heats races were won by Larry Zirbel, Craig Boettcher, and Roger Lee. The B Main was won by Will Schumacher over Nick Strobbe.
The A Main saw Dan Schumacher lead the first four laps. On lap 5, 2009 Track Champion Lee would get by for the lead. He would go on to lead the rest of the race for his third A Main win of the season. Tommy Moore would come home second from this 13th starting position. Don Sorce Jr. would finish in third, followed by Boettcher and Jim Rhode would finish in fifth.
Next Saturday night will see all 5 divisions back in action, with Bartolotta Fireworks to conclude the program. The first race is scheduled to start at 6:30.
