WEST SALEM, WI (Wednesday, September 23, 2009) – Oktoberfest Race Weekend officials have announced that two of the popular Super Late Model events at the 40th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will be competing on the Hoosier 3035 & 3045 racing tire. “The Futures” and the “Dick Trickle 99” will both be competing using these tires.
“The Hoosier 3035 and the Hoosier 3045 tire are the most common used by the Super Late Models,” Mike Panure, Technical Director for “The Futures” and the “Dick Trickle 99” said. “The tires will be available at the race track from an authorized Hoosier dealer.”
“The Futures” is a 25-lap feature event on Thursday, October 8th and is open to Super Late Model drivers under the age 30 or open to any driver who has NEVER competed in the championship Oktoberfest 100, NASCAR AutoZone Oktoberfest Race, ARTGO Oktoberfest, etc and who has never competed in any of NASCAR’s Top Three Series.
The “Dick Trickle 99” honors Dick Trickle, America’s Winningest Stock Car Driver on Friday, October 9th. The 99-lap event is broken into three 33-lap segments with the winner being the driver scoring the lowest score after the three segments. Each driver will earn points per segment with the first place driver getting one point, second place getting two points, etc.
The first 33-lap segment, the fastest 16 in qualifying will start straight up by time trials, total of six by finishes of last chance event(s) and two promoter’s options. The second 33-lap segment, based by the finish of the first segment, all lead lap cars will be inverted. The final 33-lap segment, based on the finish of the second segment, there will be a spin of the wheel plus eight to determine the invert. Ties are broken by who had a better finish in the third segment.
“These are fun races and they both give many teams the opportunity to compete,” Ray Loughan, Oktoberfest Director of Competition said. “We are expecting a great field of drivers for both events.”
