Cedar Lake Speedway Announces 2012 Season Schedule!

As the new year draws near Cedar Lake Speedway is excited to release their 2012 event schedule. 2012 brings with it a few format changes and the addition of a new class. We are excited to welcome Hornets to our program for 2012. “The Hornets put on a great show, they are fun to watch and it provides an entry level class for new blood” noted owner Brad Both. The Hornet class has become very popular at other area tracks and we anticipate great car counts right away in 2012. A complete list of rules will be released very soon. 2012 marks year four of NASCAR on dirt at Cedar Lake Speedway. Cedar Lake Speedway will again pay the largest area point fund totaling at least $23,000 (details online). Drivers earn valuable points at events listed with NASCAR on the schedule.

Our 54th season begins like many before with a double-header April 6th & 7th featuring complete shows of Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Midwest Modifieds & Hornets each night. Drivers can take advantage of open practice on Thursday to make sure all the bugs are worked out before the season kicks off. In the event Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate, plan on being at the track the following week to kick off the season. Sprint Cars invade the track for the first time April 28th as we welcome the UMSS 360 winged sprints.

Events in May include two of our most popular events of the year. May 12th brings the Battle of the Buses to the track. With thousands of screaming students cheering on their school, fans can see one of the nation’s most unique racing experiences. Full size buses decorated with their school’s colors race full speed around the track in a no holds barred, gloves off battle for the fastest school in the area! May 19th will be a fun weekend as Cedar Lake welcomes UMSS Traditional Sprint cars to the already action packed weekend of NASCAR racing. Pack the track night is up next on May 26th. The area’s best entertainment value gets even sweeter as general admission to the races is absolutely FREE. Take this opportunity to introduce a friend to dirt racing or invite someone that hasn’t been to the track in years.

June is loaded with special events starting on June 2nd with the Inaugural Triple Crown. This event boasts $3,000 to win for IRA 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars, $3,000 to win for NASCAR Late Models and $3,000 to win for NASCAR Modifieds. With a purse like this, expect all the area’s top drivers at Cedar Lake. To make the weekend even better, the first 3,000 fans receive a complimentary Triple Crown event t-shirt! The middle of June marks the annual MASTERS event June 14th-16th. This event has evolved over the years into one of the most unique race events in the country. The UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour will again invade Cedar Lake with the schedule’s only two-day stop. Complete UMP Late Model shows both nights along with the USMTS Modifieds makes this one weekend you surely don’t want to miss. The USMTS Mods put on one of the best shows of 2011 at the track and we fully expect this year’s event will deliver the same. The Night of Destruction June 30th has become a great annual event featuring death-defying stunts, fun fan participation opportunities and many surprises. Mark your calendar for a night of fun and mayhem.

World of Outlaws is all you need to say and people know you are talking about those fire-breathing winged cars. On Friday July 6th the world famous, often imitated, but never duplicated World of Outlaw Sprint cars make their annual mid-summer visit to Cedar Lake. All your favorites will be here to do battle on one of the fastest and toughest tracks they race on all year. Spend the night and help us celebrate our independence on Saturday July 7th featuring a complete show of NASCAR racing and our annual huge fireworks show. The last weekend in July features our summer Sprint Car Special showcasing UMSS 360 Sprint Cars as well as UMSS Traditional Sprint Cars as well. Don’t miss it.

The tradition continues August 2nd thru 4th as 2012 marks the silver anniversary of the USA Nationals, the World of Outlaw Late Model’s national crown jewel event. Thursday kicks off with the $5,000 to win Corn Belt Clash Late Models. Friday includes qualifying, heats & dash for the WoO Late Models and complete shows each night of NASCAR Late Models. Saturday concludes with semi’s, last chance and $50,000 to win 100 lap main event. The August 18th event, Faster Pastor Race, features area clergy competing for their parish in a fun and unique way, on the track. This event has grown into one of the most fun nights at the track. Huge fan participation and some crazy action on the track will make this a fun family night of entertainment. Come check it out.

September brings another visit from the IRA Sprint Cars as they celebrate the life of legendary racer Jerry Richert on Saturday, September 8th. This event includes complete shows of IRA Outlaw 410 Sprint Cars, UMSS 360 Sprints & NVSR Vintage cars. A format change highlights the 6th annual Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway Sep 13th thru 15th. Thursday includes heats, b-mains & a qualifying feature for 3 devisions - Hornets, Street Stocks & Midwest Modifieds. Friday’s event includes heats, b-mains & a qualifying feature for 3 new divisions - Pro Stocks, Modifieds & Late Models. Saturday then concludes with b-mains, last chance races and features for all 6 classes. Don’t miss it!
