TILLEDA THUNDER WEEK 3 HOT ACTION IN THE ICE

Under a bright clear sky with the temperatures in the single digit’s the action was hot and furious with a total of 46 cars and 18 ATVs on hand for week three of Tilleda’s Thunder On Ice. In the FWD studded class Tony Everard battled to the front from his third row starting spot. By lap 8 in the 15 lap feature he would fight his way around the outside of Clint Forstner and never look back. He was followed to the checkers by Clint “Chucky” Forstner in second and Calvin Stueck coming home in third.

RWD class is the largest group to run weekly at Lake Speed with 15 drivers looking for the prize at the end of 15 grueling laps. This being week three will show how evenly matched these drivers are as this week will have a different winner just as the first two weeks have. Brandy Meode will bring the field to the green and look strong for the first 3 laps. The pack starts to get bunched up behind him and Les Slater will lead for a couple laps as Jeff Jolitz is fighting his way through the pack battling with Clint Forstner and Justin Kraeger for a few laps and finally getting past Les Slater for the lead. From then on as the rest of the field battled with a lot of three wide action Jolitz would get his first win of the season. Clint “Chucky” Forstner would get his second, second place finish of the day with Les Slater week 2 feature winner grabbing third.

FWD non-studded feature would bring 11 cars to the start with Nate Raasch and Josh Jolitz leading the field. Raasch would slide high on lap two opening the door for the younger Jolitz to get past and take his spot at the front for a few laps. As the rest of the field battled to try and get to the front Sarah Scheibe was bidding her time and picking her way to the front. With lapped traffic and a steady hand on the wheel she would find her self in the lead with five laps to go. Sarah would hang on for her first feature win followed by Josh Jolitz in the runner-up spot and Jordon Reinke coming home in third.

ATVs were added to the schedule this season and has taken off with 14 non-studded pilots taking the green on this day. These guys put on a thrilling show with both four wheelers and a few three wheelers thrown in the mix. The action is always close and today Lance Strandberg would take the win followed by Ryan White and Austin Kolpack.

Studded ATV feature had a total of five combatants under the sunny skies today. These guys might even be more crazy than the non-studded guys as they get unbelievable traction. Running side by side with studded tires right next to your legs can be a little nerve racking. But after the quickest 15 laps of the day Raymond Knaup would ride a wheelie out of turn four to take the double checkers followed closely by “Rocky” Schreiber in second and Matt Vraa in the third spot.

Next week, Jan. 29, we will take our show on the road to the Gresham Lions 47th Annual Winterfest on the Upper Red Lake in Gresham, 1:00pm start time. Feb. 5th back at Lake Speed in Tilleda for our special “Media Day” with Dirt Drivers, Asphalt Drivers and Media Drivers running a special race for bragging rights. Normal start time 12:00 noon.
