The 2010 season wrapped up this week with the crowing of the champions in all three divisions. Dan Michonski picked up his fourth feature win only to come up a few points shy to the season champion Justin Kraeger in the RWD Non-Studded class. FWD Studded pilot Tony Everhart made it two wins in a row, but it was Daryl Erickson that would survive and take the championship. Scott Weisnicht would capture his first feature win in the FWD Non-Studded class but nobody had an answer to B.J. Giese’s hot start to the season to catch him for the top spot.

Tony Everhart would take advantage of his inside front row starting spot in the FWD Studded feature and cruise to his second win in a row. The race was for second as Matt Skarynski, Clint “Chucky” Forstner and Calvin Stueck would mix it through the middle of the race, Forstner would end up blinded as his hood would come loose and flip up making it kind of hard to see going onto turn one. In the end it was Everhart, Skarynski, Stueck, Erickson and Forstner. But in the end it was Daryl Erickson that would hold on to his points lead and take the championship.

RWD Non-Studded Feature Winner Dan Michonski (Randy Van Hoof Photo)Justin Kraeger would come into the final RWD Non-Studded feature with the points lead over Dan Michonski. Kraeger would respond by winning his heat race and finishing third. Dan Michonski would win the race from the rear it was a great race to get to the front. A couple of cautions flags for spins would keep the action close. Les Slater would see the front for the first half of the race as “The Pride Of Leopolis” was picking his way through traffic. On the eighth lap Slater would have to give up the lead as D. Michonski would go on for the win. Slater would end up in second, followed by Kraeger, Nate Michonski and Brandy Moede.

FWD Non-Studded champion was already set before the green flag dropped as B.J. Giese and his start of the season with winning the first six features would be too much for the other competitors to overcome. But that did not put a damper on this race as the points leader would start from the rear and battle his way to the front. Scott Weisnicht had other plans as he too worked his way to the point by lap six. With the battles going on deeper in the field and Giese working through to the second spot. A couple of cautions late in the race would help get Giese to the rear bumper of Weisnicht but Scott had an answer and would hold on for the win followed by Tom Brandt, Matt Skarynski, Giese and Jeff Jolitz.

FWD Non-Studded Feature Winner Scott Weisnicht (Randy Van Hoof Photo)Next Saturday March 6th has been added as a “Special” non-points money race starting at 1:00 with driver cut-off at 12:30.
