Wreck of the Week at Rockford Speedway

It’s been a busy week for the Shear crew, an on track mishap caused severe chassis damage to Kyle Shear’s #36 Late Model. It was feared that the damage was so catastrophic that the driver would not make it into this weeks Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Model racing action, but the hard work of the crew and driver has paid off, they were able to repair the damage to the chassis and will be able to race this Saturday.

The mayhem started on the track when the 36 of Shear and the 99 of Jerry Gille traded paint in the corners and bumped into each other on the front stretch. The contact was just enough to loosen up Shear’s machine, and caused him to go sideways into turn one. As Shear tried to correct the car he unintentionally clipped the #85 of Tanner Whitten, spinning him around and sending Shear up on the wall, the billboards almost suffered another blow but escaped unscathed. Whitten then moved down the track into the #44 of Wayne Freimund.

All drivers involved were able to walk away from the hard hitting wreck, Shear’s car suffering the most amount of damage with a twisted frame and broken stub. This Saturday’s racing action begins at 7:07pm will include the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Budweiser American Short Trackers, Mtn Dew RoadRunners, 2nd Over the Line Wins Race, plus Illini Midgets.
