With over 100 cars in the pits, it was the birthday boy, Jay Schraufnagel taking home the victory in the Weld Specialty Supply Modified division. Schraufnagel used the high side on a lap 9 restart to get around Craig Priewe and race leader Rob Schmid and go on to take the victory in dominating fashion.
The Weld Specialty Supply Modifieds had three heat races. The winners were Schraufnagel, Eddie Lemay Jr., and Craig Priewe. Mitch McGrath took home the victory in the Taco Bell B Main.
The A Main event started with Rob Schmid jumping into the lead from his fourth starting position. Schmid would lead the first nine laps with Craig Priewe right behind. On lap 9 Schraufnagel would go to the high side and take over the point from Schmid. Schraufnagel would survive several caution flags and go on to take the victory, Priewe would come home second, cementing his point lead, Mitch McGrath charged from his 16th starting position to finish 3rd, Schmid would finish fourth and Mike Sandholm would round out the top five.
The Piggly Wiggly Grand Nationals also had three heat races. The winners were Tim Thompson, Ron Koenig and Larry Zirbel. The B Main was won by Jim Rhode over Brian Cesar.
The A Main got off to a slow start as they had 5 cautions in the first 8 laps. Tim Thompson grabbed the lead from Dan Schumacher on lap number 3. Thompson would lead until lap number 11, when Tommy Moore would use the high side to shoot around Thompson. Moore would go on to take the victory. Current point leader, Roger Lee would get by Thompson on lap 16 to take the runner up spot. Thompson would finish third, followed by Troy Weich and Schumacher in the fifth spot.
The NAPA Street Stocks had two heat races. The winners were Justin Brown and Brandon Riedner.
Tim Draheim lead the first two laps of the A Main. He would get passed by Riedner on the high side on lap number 3. Riedner, would hold off the challenges of Jeremy Schwoch and Aaron Streblow until lap number 12 when Schwoch would get by for the lead. Schwoch would lead until lap 18 when Riedner would regain the lead. Riedner would take the checkered; Streblow would get second as Schwoch spun off of turn 4. Schwoch would recover and finish third, with Jon Schultz fourth and Joe Brenner in fifth.
The Choice Insurance Legends had three heats. The winners were Grant Greenfield, Joe Wyttenbach, and Dallas Ross.
The A Main got underway with Greenfield and Wyttenbach getting together in turn 3. On the restart Ethan Ross would jump out front. His lead would last until lap 4 when Dallas Ross would get by. One lap later, Wyttenbach, who restarted in the 20th spot, would take the lead. The next lap would see Brandon Schmitt slip by Wyttenbach on the inside for the lead. On lap 7 Wyttenbach would return the favor and get by Schmitt on the inside. Wyttenbach would go on and lead the rest of the way and take the win, Joe Johnson would also get by Schmitt and take second, Dallas Ross would come home fourth and Greenfield would recover from the first lap accident to claim fifth.
The Performance Motorsports Sport Mods had two heat races. The winners were Jeff Schmuhl and Jeff Steenbergen.
Matt Bedker would get out front from his third starting position. He would lead the first three laps until Steenbergen would get by on the inside. The next lap would see Zeke Bishofberger get by Steenbergen for the lead, but the next time by Steenbergen would retake the point. Steenbergen would lead until lap 12, when Brian Besaw would use the high line to the lead. Two laps later Steenbergen would copy what he saw and pass Besaw on the top side to take back the lead. He would go on from there and take the win, followed by Besaw, Bishofberger, Chad Hummelmeier, and Aaron Bolstad, in the Kenny Richard’s car.
The Mid State Equipment Badger Midgets were on hand again. Fast time honors were picked up by Daniel Robinson with a time of 17.063. The heat races were won by 2010 Badger Champion Mike Hess and Travis Berryhill.
Travis Berryhill would jump out to the lead from his front row starting position. While Berryhill was out front, there was a battle going on for second. Courtney Erfurth, Mike Hess, and Scott Hatton were doing battle. The three would swap positions throughout the race. A caution on lap 15 would bunch up the field for a five lap shootout. On the restart Hatton, who was in a back up car, was running fourth. One lap later he would get by Erfurth for third, he then would get by Hess and Berryhill for the lead on lap 18, with a caution coming out one last time. On the restart Hatton, who also started last, would hold off Berryhill for the win, followed by Hess, Erfurth and Rich Camfield would finish fifth.
Next week all six divisions will again be on hand, with racing scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.
