Shawano, WI (Aug. 29, 2009) - For the fifth time this season rain forced Shawano Speedway to cancel its racing program Saturday night. That leaves one week of racing left at the Speedway, which concludes its season on Saturday, Sept. 5 during the Shawano County Fair at 6 p.m. Track champions in each division will be crowned at the end of the racing program.
Heading into the final week of racing, 10 points or less separates the top two in the points standings in three of the five divisions.
In the WISSOTA Late Model division, A.J. Diemel holds a 10 point lead over Troy Springborn and an 11 point lead over Justin Ritchie. Springborn and Ritchie tied for the championship last season.
Jared Siefert, who is looking to win his third straight IMCA Modified track championship is eight point ahead of Jason Czarapata and nine points ahead of Brad Rohloff. Eddie Muenster and Tim Van De Hei are still in the mix, 12 points and 17 points back, respectively.
Five drivers are within 12 points at the top of the IMCA Sport Mod standings. Tim Jorgenson sits atop the standings, with Matt Oreskovich five points back in second place. Clint Forstner is eight points back, while Tracy Wassenberg is 10 points back and Travis Van Straten is 12 points out of first.
Justin Hirt has a 20 point lead over Brett Swedberg in the Fastrak Late Model division. Rod Snellenberger holds a 32 point lead over Dan Michonski in the IMCA Stock Car feature.
