The pendulum continues to swing around the drivers competing for the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship as each week we could see a new leader. But, this week that swings back to Corey Jankowski at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

Jankowski sits at the top of the standing among the ASA Member Track point leaders with an average of 2.2099. Rodney Cook of Ace Speedway in Elon, NC sits second in the standings with an average of 2.1838 with Logan Mainella of Orange Show Speedway in third with an average of 2.1816.

Not only is Jankowski in a tight battle for the National Title, he is currently in a tight battle at his home track as he currently has a three-point lead over Davey Pennel. Pennel won his first feature this past Saturday night. In fact, the top-nine in the track standings is only separated by 81 points.

Cook has a 60-point lead over Bobby Griffin in the track standings at Ace Speedway. He also has five feature wins so far this season and could be a factor as the season goes on.

Clint LaFont of Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX is still in the hunt with an average of 2.0723 and is fourth overall. Bryan Wordelman of Rocky Mountain Raceway in West Valley City, UT rounds out the top-five among the point leaders with an average of 2.0244.

Jankowski not only has the highest average among the track point leaders but he also has the highest average among all of the competitors competing for the 2010 National Title. Toni McCray of Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA has the second highest overall average with a 2.2034. She is currently in a tight points battle with Logan Mainella and Ron Daniel at the West coast track.

When intense summer heat brings dragstrips on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series to a mild sizzle, many crew chiefs on the circuit start scratching their heads, trying to figure ways to make their 7,000-horsepower machines cover the race distance without losing traction.

For Funny Car veteran Tim Wilkerson, one of the only drivers in the category who also serves as his own crew chief, the opposite is true. He starts salivating because he knows his notebook is jammed full of proven tune-up methods should his team encounter such sticky situations.

A quick glance at his racing accomplishments reveals multiple victories during the hot summer months. By racing to victory during oppressive weather conditions at St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis and Englishtown, Wilkerson has earned the unofficial title of “Hot Track Master” on the circuit.

He has used his skills to post back-to-back final rounds at the last two stops on the tour, in Bristol, Tenn. and Norwalk, Ohio. At both events, track temperatures soared above 130 degrees. At Bristol he was runner-up to John Force. At Norwalk, Wilkerson returned the favor to the legendary 14-time world champion.

Wilkerson hopes to keep his final round streak going in his Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Mustang as he sets out to defend his title at the NHRA Northwest Nationals, July 9-11 at Pacific Raceways near Seattle. Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) also are defending winners of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event that will be televised on ESPN3.com and ESPN2 HD. The race kicks off the Western Swing, which also visits Sonoma, Calif. (July 16-18) and Denver (July 23-25).

He had all planned out. That was to graduate from high school, pack up and move down south hoping to get a job at a race shop and work up from there. But his father really didn't like that idea, hoping that his son would at least go to college. Enter the ASA - Student Educational Series and now father and son are both smiling on a bright future.

Vern Fagerberg Jr. races weekly at Madison International Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Oregon, WI. He was very focused on moving down south that he graduated from high school in three years. "I was going to move directly to Concord, NC and sweep floors until I found a ride," Fagerberg said about his plans. "All of a sudden the ASA - Student Educational Series arrives and it was a great opportunity to keep my racing career going while still getting the opportunity to go to college and I found out that I could do both rather than just move down and go racing. Now I can go to school because of the ASA Educational Series."

That decison made his father, Vern Sr., very happy. "It's made him more committed to looking at to the future. So committed that he graduated high school in three years," Vern Sr. said. "I wanted him to get some schooling in anything and this program started at MIS two years ago. He asked me why I signed him up for this to where now he can't wait to go to Ohio Technical College in October. This is a great thing and I am really happy that ASA got involved with this."
