Fairchild, WI; May 22, 2010 – As race fans swarmed into Marshfield Motor Speedway here Saturday night, Mother Nature provided some great weather for the fans in hopes of viewing some great racing action.
The Super Late Models provided much excitement for the large crowd, here Saturday night. Don “Thunder” Turner of LaCrosse led the field to the green flag in the 25-lap feature event. Thunder’s lead was brief however as Jeff Weinfurter inched by on the outside on lap one. By lap four, Jason Weinkauf, Chad Selk, and Fast Timer Tim Sauter looked to be the drivers moving forward in a hurry. One lap later, defending track champion Jason Weinkauf swiped the lead away from Weinfurter. Sauter, in a Deon prepared Jay VanDerGeest hot rod, looked to be very quick with four new slicks bolted on. Crossing the start/finish line on lap 10, Sauter nudged his way past Weinfurter for the runner up position. Sauter, a Necedah, WI native and past ASA National Champion, wasn’t about to settle for second place. He drove by Weinkauf on the low side exiting turn one on lap 11. Another car working his car forward was that of Tomah, WI driver, Jim Sauter, Jr. Sauter, Jr. moved into the fourth position and was knocking on Weinfurter’s door for third. In the end though, Weinfurter was too good in the corners holding off Sauter, Jr. for the podium finish. With Tim Sauter cruising to the easy win, Weinkauf looked strong winding up second. Jim Sauter, Jr. and Eugene Gregorich, Jr. finished fourth and fifth respectively. Rory Melbinger won the Dash 4 Cash, with Adam White and Jason Weinkauf victorious in the Super Late Model heats.
