(January 9th, 2010) - Tilleda Thunder on Ice kicked off the 2010 ice racing season on Saturday January 9th. With the pits full of racers and many spectators on hand, it was a great day on the ice.

The rear wheel drive non-studded feature started with the full field of 16 racers taking to the new and larger track. Last years champion Dan Michonski drew the pole for the first feature of the year, and he would not be denied. At the start Clint “Chucky” Forestner ducked back into the pits with cooling issues and ended up getting back on the track 4 laps down. On lap four it was his dad Pete “Rabbit” Forstner that ran into bad luck as his ride caught fire from an oil leak coming out of turn four. With only one other caution on lap 10 Dan Michonski was not challenged, Travis Verg and Nate Michonski tried their best to catch the man in the 1 out front but to no avail.

Tilleda Thunder On Ice week 6 found temperatures in the low 20s but with the overcast and blustery, snowy day it seemed a lot colder. In the end it was Greg Gutt picking up feature win number 5 of the season. Clint Forstner claiming hi second win. First time out this season, Daryl Erickson and a “Wiley” old veteran Ben Michonski picking up wins.

RWD Studded driver 41 Craig Wildenberg gets the preferred line on Mike Schmidt in turns one and twoBy: Randy Van Hoof
Tilleda Thunder On Ice Week 4 felt like a nice warm spring day after the very cold week last week. It was a very competitive day especially in the RWDNS class as another Michonski found his way to victory lane.

The Outlaw Studded class was up first and with only 2 cars running this week and only 1 FWD studded car in the pits they ran together with the 35Q of Calvin Stueck getting points for his class. The 41 of Craig Wildenberg started inside and the 07 of Mike Schmidt for the 15 lap shootout while Stueck started shotgun on the field. Wildenberg led from the start and never looked back. Schmidt made it interesting during the race as he was able get to Wildenberg’s rear bumper a few times but Craig was up to the challenges and took his second feature win of the season.
