Langsdorf captures NAPA Auto Parts 35 at
Columbus!

June 25, 1999; Columbus, WI. - Mike Langsdorf of Doylestown led from start to finish to capture the thirty-five lap NAPA Auto Parts of Columbus and Sun Prairie and Wisconsin Fans For Auto Racing late model feature at the Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday night. Langsdorf, who currently leads the point standings, is the sixth different feature winner in the division this season. Two cautions bunched the field up for restarts but no one was able to seriously challenge Langsdorf for the win. Rookie John Ovadahl Jr. of Johnson Creek had his best run of the season finishing in second.

The most impressive drive of the race was put in by Scott Patrick of Dousman. Patrick elected to start the race from the rear. Racing from the nineteenth starting position, Patrick moved inside and out to pick up positions enroute to his third place finish. Don Gaserude of Fort Atkinson drove to fourth. Bruce Havel of Deerfield was fifth.

Dennis Schmidt of Beaver Dam appeared to be the winner in the twenty-five lap street stock feature. However, Schmidt's car failed a post race inspection. The win was awarded to Ron Schmitt of Jackson. Schmitt, in winning his first feature of the season, became the seventh different driver to win a feature in the division this season. Will Godding of Cross Plains drove a strong race and finished in second. Joel Soenksen of Baraboo had his best race of the season driving to a third place finish. Ron Preskar of Juneau followed in fourth. John Kolb of Juneau took the fifth spot.

John Hibner of Pardeeville scored his second win of the season in the twenty lap hobby stock feature. Dan Schmidt of Watertown drove to second ahead of Grant Lindner of Poynette. Jim Rohrbeck of Portage followed in fourth ahead of Dennis Gaserude of Oregon. The race was run without a camion.

Jim Remsik of Madison picked up his first win of the season in the back up division. Ron Schneidewind of Madison crossed the line in second. Third went to Bruce Havel.
Fast times for the evening were turned in by Scott Patrick in the late models at 13.649, Rick Copperuoll of Marshall in the street stocks at 14.178 and Andy Junget of Rio in the hobby stocks at 15.678.
Late model heat race wins were registered by Tom Lorenz of Madison and John Acker of Spring Green. In the street stock division, heat race wins were recorded by Clayton Broesch Jr. of Rio, Fred Strobel of Hartford, Richard Colvin of Poynette and Ed Jackson of Madison. Dennis Gaserude and Jason Hibner of Pardeeville were victorious in the hobby stock heat races.
Kevin Anderson of Madison raced to the win in the street stock semi-feature. Fred Strobel drove to second. Clayton Broesch Jr. was third.
In the Ad World spectator race action, Dave Derek Relun of Westfield claimed the eight cylinder class win. Chris Rowley of Cottage Grove was second. Terry Hauser of Beloit took third. The four cylinder win was taken by Rob Tweed of Madison. Rick Krajewski of Marshall finished second. Bob Rabe of Madison was third.
Racing continues the Friday night at Columbus 151 Speedway with the Cherry Bomb 50 Night. The late model division will race a fifty lap main event. The street stock division feature will be thirty laps. The hobby stocks will race for twenty-five laps. The Wisconsin Vietnam' Veteran Chapter Five Color Guard will be on hand for the evening. Also on the schedule is the B/J/'s Roadside Rollover Contest.
Columbus 151 Speedway is located just of Exit 111 on Highway 151, between Columbus and Sun Prairie, WI. The quarter-mile asphalt oval feature four divisions weekly, Late Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stock and Back-up Cars. Additional divisions make guest appearances throughout the year.
