Al Weishoff tops Pepsi Triple 60's Round Two!

August 6, 1999; Columbus, WI. -  Al Weishoff of Otsego drove to victory in the sixty lap late model Pepsi Triple 60's Challenge Series Round Two feature at the Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday night.

8699a.jpg (18367 bytes) Al Weishoff (#46) won round two of the Pepsi Triple 60's Challenge Series here at Columbus 151 Speedway.  Weishoff became the tenth different winner in Late Model action this season on the quarter-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

The win vaulted Weishoff into third in the series standings. Weishoff is the tenth different driver to win a late model feature at the speedway this season. Terry Sauer of Waterloo finished in second to move into fourth in the series. Scott Patrick of Dousman and Randy Breunig of Columbus came across the line in the third and fourth positions. Breunig and Patrick are now tied for the lead in the Pepsi standings.

8699h.jpg (13085 bytes) Duane Deppe (#17) got turned around and collected Bill Retallick (#9) in late model feature race action.

Mark Miller of Columbus drove to fifth. Finishing in the sixth thru tenth positions were Andy Tomlinson of Poynette, Dean Schultz of Juneau, Mike Langsdorf of Doylestown, John Ovadahl of Johnson Creek and Bill Retallick of Marshall.

8699b.jpg (15083 bytes) Dennis Schmidt (#51) drove this sharp looking Street Stock to the winners circle in their 25 lap main event holding off the challenges of  Ron Preskar.

Dennis Schmidt of Beaver Dam raced to the win in the twenty-five lap street stock feature. Ron Preskar of Juneau came from the sixth row to finish in second. Eric Langfeldt of Columbus drove to third ahead of Kevin Anderson of Madison. Fifth went to Richard Colvin of Poynette.

Dan Schmidt (#19) had his turn in the winners circle after taking top honors in the Hobby Stock main event this evening. 8699c.jpg (13854 bytes)

Dan Schmidt of Watertown was victorious in the twenty lap hobby stock feature. Dennis Gaserude of Oregon followed Schmidt across the line for second. Jim Rohrbeck of Portage was third. Andy Junget of Rio took fourth ahead of Jason Hibner of Pardeeville.

8699d.jpg (12347 bytes) You've seen him here before!  Defending Backup division champion Bruce Havel (#15) scored yet another win in the division.   Havel is currently leading the standings and is looking to repeat as champion this year.

Bruce Havel of Deerfield took top honors in the back up division recording the win over Mark Remsik of Deerfield and Dave Moore of McFarland.

Fast times for the evening were turned in by Dean Schultz in the late models at 13.639, Dan Howard of Baraboo in the street stocks at 14.126 and Andy Junget in the hobby stocks at 15.522.

8699g.jpg (12266 bytes) Too hot!! Steve Dobbratz (#52) had a scary moment when a fire broke out in the engine compartment of his car during the running of the Late Model feature.  The fire was quickly extinguished and Dobbratz was unhurt in the incident.

Late model heat race wins were registered by Jim Doe of Columbus, Bill Retallick and Mike Kolb of Wauwatosa.

Street stock heat race wins went to Fred Strobel of Hartford, Dennis Catencamp of Marshall, Ed Jackson of Madison and Ron Schmitt of Jackson.

8699i.jpg (10949 bytes) A wheelstand!  Visiting driver Gary Benion (#58) got together with eventual winner Bill Shavlik (#1) in the Street Stock semi-feature and did a wheelie.
The wrong way!  Bob Jacobs (#23), Jay Spahn (#13) and Dennis Catencamp (#30) got together on the front stretch during semi-feature action for the Street Stocks. 8699e.jpg (12242 bytes)

Dan Schmidt and Jerry Chapman of Juneau won the hobby stock heats.

Bruce Havel captured the late model semi-feature win over John Acker of Spring Green and Butch Mierendorf of Lake Mills.

Bill Shavllck of West Bend beat Clayton Broesch Jr. of Rio and Gary Fletchall of Oregon to win the street stock semi-feature. Racing action continues this Friday night at ihe Columbus 151 Speedway with Miller Lite 50 Night. The late model division will run a fifty lap feature. tory to follow shortly!

Columbus 151 Speedway is a quarter-mile paved oval located on Highway 151, between the towns of Columbus and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Take Exit 111 of Highway 151 just south of Columbus.
