Kolb grabs first career Late Model feature,
title to Patrick!!

September 10, 1999; Columbus, WI. - Season Championship Night marked the end of the 1999 racing season at the Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday night. When all was said and done it was Scott Patrick of Dousman who claimed his second straight track championship in the late model division. Dan Howard of Baraboo captured his first track title in the street stock division. Dennis Gaserude drove to his third championship in the last four years in the hobby stock division. Bruce Havel of Deerfield dominated the back up division on his way to his fourth track championship.
In the late model season championship feature, Mike Kolb of Wauwatosa slipped by Howard Hosely of Sun Prairie on lap forty-eight and registered his first career feature win. Kolb is the twelfth different driver to win a feature in the division this season.
Don Gaserude of Fort Atkinson followed Kolb across the line for second. Scott Patrick moved up from the ninth row to take the third position. Mike Langsdorf of Doylestown, who started alongside Patrick in the ninth row, drove to fourth. Langsdorf finished second to Patrick in the season point battle. Howard Hosely ended up in fifth. Finishing in sixth through tenth were Scott Nottestad of Cambridge, Dean Schultz of Juneau, Duane Deppe of Waterloo, Bruce Havel of Deerfield and Steve Dobbratz of Rio. John Ovadahl Jr. of Johnson Creek drove to twelfth and claimed top rookie honors in the division by placing fourteenth in the final standings.
Rick Coppernoll of Marshall led from start to finish to win the thirty lap street stock season championship feature. Coppernoll is the thirteenth different feature winner this season in the division. Ron Schmitt of Jackson came all the way from the eighth row to finish a close second. Jeni Westergaard of Columbus also moved up well posting a third place finish.
Will Godding of Cross Plains drove a strong race to take fourth. Scott Ascher of Sussex moved up from the tenth row to cross the line in fifth. Finishing in sixth through tenth were John Kolb of Juneau, Dan Howard, Dennis Schmidt of Beaver Dam, Ron Preskar of Juneau and Richard Colvin of Poynette. Dennis Schmidt edged out Kevin Anderson of Madison by six points and finished seventh in the fmal standings to win the battle for top rookie in the division.
Jim Rohrbeck of Portage captured his second win of the season in the twenty-five lap hobby stock feature. Dennis Gaserude of Oregon drove to second. Grant Lindner of Poynette had a strong showing with a third place finish after moving up from the seventh row. Lincoln Keeser of Jefferson was fourth. Ken Scott of Rio moved up well to take fifth. Sixth through tenth positions went to Gerry Junget of Rio, Andy Junget of Rio, Bret Schmidt of Watertown, Chuck Bishop of Lodi and Dave Schwark of Sun Prairie. Schwark was the highest finishing rookie in the season point standings at thirteenth.
Bruce Havel ended his season in victory, lane for the tenth time before the ABC Network cameras in the ten lap back up race. Mark Remsik of Deerfield followed in second. Dave Moore of McFarland was third.
Scott Patrick paced the late models in qualifying at 13.570. Ron Preskar was quick in the street stocks at 14.211. Ken Scott led the hobby stocks at 15.472.
Late Model heat race wins were registered by Gary, Conner of Ridgeway, Butch Mierendorf of Lake Mills and John Ovadahl Jr. Street stock heat wins went to Bob Jacobs of DeForest, Richard Colvin, Dan Howard, and Ray Spiess of Madison. Dennis Schwark of Sun Prairie, Lincoln Keeser and Ron Coppernoll of Dane were victorious in the hobby stock heats.
Ray Spiess beat Scott Ascher and Gary Fletchall of Oregon across the line to win the street stock semi-feature.
In powder puff action, Rachel Langsdorf of Doylestown drove to victory in the hobby stock division while Sue Spiess of Madison claimed the win in the street stock division.
Mechanics races were won by Justin Nottestad of Cambridge in the late models, Jeff Schmitt of Jackson in the street stocks and Jeremy Popp of Dane in the hobby stocks.
Columbus 151 Speedway will host it's 1999 awards banquet on Saturday March 11th, 2000.

Wednesday,
April 5th, 2000 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and continue on Wednesday evenings.
The annual car show will be held at the track on Sunday afternoon April 23rd, 2000 and be held from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday afternoon April 30th the first race of the new millennium will tack place with time trials at NOON and racing at 2:00 p.m.
Columbus 151 Speedway is a quarter-mile paved oval located on Highway 151, between the towns of Columbus and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Take Exit 111 of Highway 151 just south of Columbus.
