Duane Deppe takes Miller Lite 50, Preskar
tops Streets!!

May 14, 1999; Columbus, WI. - Duane Deppe of Waterloo raced to his first feature win since 1989 when he drove to victory in the fifty lap Miller Lite late model feature at the Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday night. Deppe charged into the lead at the start of the event from his front row starting position. John Lamberty of Verona grabbed the lead from Deppe on lap two. However, Deppe regained the lead two laps later and went on to score the win.

The victory also moved him into the lead in the point standings. Lamberty drove a strong race and held on to finish second. Mike Langsdorf of Doylestown moved up through the pack from the sixth row to take third. Langsdorf had closed in on the leaders by lap thirty-four and appeared to be in a position to challenge for the lead. However caution came out when Andy Tomlinson of Poynette crashed into the first turn wall. Following the caution Langsdorf was unable to regain the momentum he had going and settled for third. Terry Sauer of Waterloo crossed the line in fourth. Randy Breunig of Columbus was fifth.
Ron Preskar of Juneau charged from his fifth row starting position to claim the victory in the twenty-five lap street stock feature. Dan Howard of Baraboo, who started alongside Preskar, drove to second. Howard is now the new point leader in the division. Early race leader Rick Cregger of Madison followed in third. Ron Schmitt of Jackson finished in fourth ahead of Karl Wahlgren of Cross Plains.

Ken Scott of Rio made a move inside Dan Schmidt of Watertown on lap nineteen to take over the lead and take the win in the twenty lap hobby stock feature. Jason Hibner of Pardeeville moved into second and was followed by Dennis Gaserude of Oregon who moved into the top spot in the point standings. Andy Junget of Rio was fourth. Dan Schmidt slipped to finish in fifth.

Jamie Moll of Madison was able to get by Ben Kreyer of Poynette on the final lap to capture the fifteen lap Junior Motorsports feature. Ray Kreyer of Poynette followed in third. Bryan Pautsch of Sun Prairie took fourth. Fifth went to Jeremy Gray of Poynette. Steve Hustad of Arlington came back to fmish sixth after getting his mount upside down on lap thirteen.

Ron Schneidewind of Madison was victorious in the back up race holding off Dave Moore of McFarland and Rick Verdon of Fitchburg. Moore takes over the point lead with his second place finish.

Fast times for the evening were turned in by Mike Langsdorf in the late models at 13.557, Dan Howard in the street stocks at 14.092, Gerry Junget in the hobby stocks at 15.515 and Reed Powers of Poynette in the Junior Motorsports at 17.240.
Late model heat race wins were registered by Butch Mierendorf of Lake Mills, Patrick Dwyer of Monona and Steve Dobbratz of Rio. Street stock heat race wins went to Dan Krueger of Columbus, Kale Peterman of Juneau and Ed Jackson of Madison. Dennis Gaserude and Gerry Junget won the hobby stock heats. Jamie Moll won the Junior Motorsports dash while heat wins were recorded by Bryan Pautsch and Steve Hustad.
Jeni Westergaard of Columbus was uninjured when she crashed hard crash into the fourth turn wall in her Street Stock during hot laps.
Racing action continues this Friday night at the Columbus 151 Speedway with NAPA Auto Parts of Columbus and Sun Prairie Night. The Formula Indy Racing Association will also be in action in addition to late models, street stocks, hobby stocks and back ups. There evening will also feature the first B. J.'s Roadside Rollover Contest of the season, rescheduled from the rain out earlier in the month. Time Trials are set to begin at 6:15 p.m. with the first race scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
