Gaserude best in Dick Moore Memorial 50 at
Columbus 151 Speedway!

June 18, 1999; Columbus, WI. - Don Gaserude of Fort Atkinson drove to victory in the fifty lap Dick Moore Memorial feature at the Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday night. Gaserude had closed in on leaders Mike Kolb of Wauwatosa and Howard Hosely of Sun Prairie after starting in the fourth row.

When Kolb and Hosely tangled as they came down the front straight on lap seventeen, Gaserude moved to the front for the restart and never gave up the top spot. It was the first win of the season for Gaserude who is the fifth different feature winner in the division this season. Bruce Havel of Deerfield followed Gaserude across the line for second. Al Weishoff of Otsego raced from the eighth row to finish in third. Mike Langsdorf of Doylestown moved up well driving to fourth after starting in ninth row.

The finish allowed Langsdorf to move into the season point lead. Scott Patrick of Dousman was also part of the impressive charge from back in the pack as he came from the tenth row to finish in fifth. Randy Breunig of Columbus, who started alongside Langsdorf, wound up in the sixth position. Terry Sauer of Waterloo was seventh. Dean Schultz of Juneau had an amazing run finishing in eighth after being a lap down early in the race. Andy Tomlinson of Poynette drove to ninth. Duane Deppe of Waterloo was tenth.

Bob Jacobs of DeForest drove to his first feature win in the thirty lap street stock feature. Jacobs is the sixth different feature winner in as many events this season. Kevin Anderson drove a strong race and finished in second. Jeni Westergaard of Columbus drove a consistent race to take third. Fourth went to Bobby Stough Jr. of Waunakee. Kale Peterman of Juneau followed in fifth.

Gerry Junget of Rio was awarded the win after apparent victor Jim Rohrbeck of Portage weighed in one hundred pounds light at the post race inspection. It was the first win of the season for Junget. There now have been six different feature winners in the division this season. Mike Goeman Jr. of Hartford followed Junget across the line to take second. Dennis Gaserude of Oregon drove to third ahead of Grant Lindner of Poynette. Fifth went to Andy Junget of Rio.
Mark Remsik of Deerfield led from start to finish in capturing the back up division race. It was the first win of the season for Remsik. Dan Sheldon of Madison came home in second. Bruce Havel was third.

Fast times for the evening were turned in by Dean Schultz in the late models at 13.598, Ron Preskar of Juneau in the street stocks at 13.971 and Gerry Junget in the hobby stocks at 15.535.
Late model heat race wins were registered by Mike Kolb, John Acker of Spring Green and Don Gaserude. In the street stock division, Fred Strobel of Hartford, Dennis Catencamp of Marshall, Jay Spahn of Middleton and Dennis Schmidt of Beaver Dam were victorious in the heats. Hobby stock heat wins went to Jason Hibner of Pardeeville and Mike Goeman Jr.
The street stock semi-feature win was recorded by Fred Strobel. Clayton Broesch Jr. of Rio was second. Third went to Ken Morris of Madison.
Racing action resumes this Friday night at the Columbus 151 Speedway with NAPA Auto Parts of Columbus and Sun Prairie Night. Wisconsin Fans for Auto Racing will also be on hand. The evening will also have on the schedule the Ad World spectator races.
