Columbus 151 Speedway getting ready for 1999!

February 24, 1999; Columbus, WI. - The pace of activities for Columbus 151 Speedway have begun to pickup prior tot he start of the 1999 racing season at the quarter-mile asphalt oval.

First up on the agenda will be the speedway awards banquet honoring the top drivers from the past racing season.  The banquet will be held on Saturday evening, March 6th at the Park Ponderosa Ballroom at 5100 Erling Avenue, in McFarland, WI.

The door to the festivities will open promptly at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.  Live music will be presented by Mary & The Highlights at 9:00 p.m.

The first of the activities held at the raceway will be the annual Race Car Show, presented by Moore's Towing & Service.  The show will be held at the raceway from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on April 18th,  and will give fans a chance to see all the new cars in competition this upcoming season at the raceway. It will give fans a chance to have their picture taken with their favorite car and driver.

After the show is completed at 4:00 p.m., the pits will be cleared and fans can watch an open practice session which will begin at 4:00 p.m.   Grandstand admission will be FREE of charge and the concession stands will be opened when the cars take to the track for their practice sessions.

Racing will get underway in 1999 on Sunday Afternoon, April 25th with the Wisconsin State Invitational.  This huge event will feature a $15,000 purse for the four competing divisions.

Heading up the divisions will be the Late Model division.   The Late Models will run a 50-lap feature race which will pay $600 to win and $100 to start.  Also on hand will be the Street/Super Stock divisions and the Hobby / Pure Stock classes.  Cars are invited from all area tracks.

If you are from Golden Sands Speedway, Jefferson Speedway, Lake Geneva Raceway, Madison International Speedway, Slinger Speedway, State Park Speedway, Tomah/Sparta Speedway, Tomahawk Speedway, Wisconsin Dells Motor Speedway, Wisconsin International Raceway and other tracks please bring your tracks rulebook so we can place you in the proper division.

Also on hand will be the tracks own Back-Up cars will provide their own style of thrills by racing backwards around the raceway!!

Pit passes for this special program are $20.00.  Adult grandstand admission is $12.00, Youth tickets ( 10-15 ) are $8.00 and Children tickets ( Under 10 ) will be $2.00

Rough overnight camping is permitted in all designated areas.  All overnight campers must purchase a weekend pass.  In addition there are local hotels nearby and the track recommends the Super 8 Motels located in Columbus (920) 623-8800 or Sun Prairie  (608) 837-8889
