August 11, 2000; Columbus, WI. -  Bill Retallick of Marshall and Jason Erickson of Cambridge shared the spotlight for the late model Pepsi Triple 60’s Challenge Series Championship Round at the Columbus 151 Speedway on Friday Night. Retallick drove to victory in the 60-lap Pepsi feature while Erickson was crowned the Pepsi Triple 60’s Challenge Series Champion.

Retallick jumped into the lead at the start of the event and built up nearly a half lap lead on the rest of the pack. Randy Breunig of Columbus, who came into the event tied with Erickson for the lead in the Pepsi Series, began to move up through the traffic along with Andy Tomlinson of Poynette and Jason Erickson. Also in the battle was Terry Sauer of Waterloo. Erickson, who had started in the seventh row, moved into second about midway through the race and set sail for Retallick. By lap forty, Erickson had closed in on Retallick as the pair worked through traffic.

But the war was won by Jason Erickson (#68) who finished a close second to Bill Retallick during this evening's feature event.

Erickson however, earned the post points in the Pepsi Triple Challenge Series and was named the 2000 series champion.

The two battled with Erickson moving up alongside of Retallick on several occasions. On lap forty-two, Erickson had a slight edge as they crossed the line. Retallick battled back and was back out in front the next lap. As the laps went by Erickson continued to work on Retallick, but it was Retallick across the line first at the checkered flag. For Retallick, it was his first win of the season. He is the eleventh different driver to win a feature in the division in the thirteen events held. Randy Breunig finished in third ahead of Terry Sauer. Andy Tomlinson of Poynette was fifth. Finishing in sixth through tenth were Al Weishoff of Otsego, Will Godding of Cross Plains, Dean Schultz of Juneau, Rich Schumann Jr. of Portage and Don Gaserude of Fort Atkinson.

The top five in the final Pepsi Triple 60’s Challenge Series standings were Jason Erickson, Randy Breunig, Terry Sauer, Al Weishoff and Andy Tomlinson.

SPECIAL NOTICE - The Moore Family would like to address the many rumors that have been circulating recently. It is felt that it is unfortunate that so much has been said regarding the status of the Columbus 151 Speedway and that it has become necessary to clarify matters. The Moore Family has owned and operated the Columbus 151 Speedway since July of 1981.

Over the years a great deal of effort has been put forth to improve the speedway and to provide a competitive racing program in an entertaining family atmosphere. The many improvements to the facilities, the closeness of the competition and the many family activities exemplify the commitment the Moore Family has had in the past and to the future of the speedway.

The Columbus 151 Speedway is open and plans to remain open. The schedule is full of activities for the remainder of this season and plans are already in the making for the next season. Payoffs to drivers for weekly shows were raised for this season and are at an all time high. There are other programs in place that pay out to the drivers at the annual awards banquet. There are more special events and kids activities taking place than at any other time in speedway history. The Moore Family hopes that the rumors can be laid to rest and would like to thank the fans, sponsors and drivers for their continued support and look forward to the times ahead.
