Mark Remsik (#84) scored his second Backup race victory on the season here at Columbus 151 Speedway.

Though Dobbratz won the war, this fifty-lap battle would go to Al Weishoff of Columbus. Weishoff battled Rob Retallick early in the race but, did not gather the lead until lap twenty-six. Dean Schultz of Juneau and Series Champion Dobbratz also took their turns trying to get around Retallick. Andy Tomlinson of Poynette would round out the top five as the curtain fell on the 2001 Miller 50 Challenge Series. The official finishing order was Al Weishoff, Dean Schultz, Andy Tomlinson, Rob Retallick, and Steve Dobbratz.

Ron Preskar of Juneau took top honors in the Street Stock Division. Preskar took advantage of a lap fourteen restart and began to march around the outside of Dave Oswald, Ron Coppernoll of Madison and Jason Thoma of Jefferson. Scott Riedner of Waunakee grabbed the second position on lap sixteen but, Preskar had built a sizeable lead as Riedner worked around Coppernoll. Dave Oswald would follow Riedner, time ran out as Riedner made up the ground on Preskar. Top five at the line were Ron Preskar, Scot Riedner, Dave Oswald, Ron Coppernoll, and Ron Schmitt of Jackson.

Dennis Gaserude survived the twenty-lap Hobby Stock Main event. Gilbert Valdez was the early leader until contact sent him spinning around in turn one. Jerry Chapman of Juneau had been racing Valdez for the top spot. Valdez sat in the corner for a lap with no caution until Chapman came around again when Gilbert Valdez pulled up out of the infield in an apparent attempt to eliminate the new leader.

He would be successful as Chapman sustained a flat left front tire, taking him out of contention. Gaserude who was running third, inherited the lead and took the victory over, Jim Rohrbeck of Portage, Lincoln Keeser of Milton, Grant Lindner of Poynette, and John Remsik of Madison.

Mark Remsik of Madison picked up his second victory of the season in the Back-Up Division. Remsik finished the race a quarter lap ahead of second place Matt Wachuta of Brooklyn. Wachuta was being chased by Bruce Havel of Deerfield. Following Havel was Jim Remsik of DeForest, Dave Moore of McFarland, and Steve Oetzel of Marshall. The points race has tightened up considerably following this event as three positions are separated by a mere three points, Field goal anyone?
