Nottestad Captures "Summer
Rumble" Late Model Main at Columbus 151! June 8, 2002; Columbus, WI. - Scott Nottestad of Stoughton powered his way into the lead at the start and led the rest of the way to capture the 35-lap late model feature Friday night on Auto Armor Night at the Columbus 151 Speedway. It was also the first night of the NAPA Auto Parts Summer Rumble. The second race of the two-show event for total points took place on Saturday night at the Jefferson Speedway..
Nottestad became the fourth different feature winner this season. Greg Bowers of Waterloo moved up to finish in second. Rookie Jason Dunn of Sun Prairie drove a strong race to finish in third. Rob Retallick of Deerfield followed in fourth. Al Weishoff of Columbus came from the twelfth starting position to finish in fifth. Dylan Schuyler of Dousman was able to wrestle the lead away from Kevin Anderson of Cottage Grove on lap three and cruised to the win in the 25-lap street stock feature. Schuyler is the fifth different feature winner this season. Tony Koepke of Fort Atkinson worked his way up to a second place finish. Bob Jacobs of DeForest came from the fifth row to cross the line in third. Bobby Stough Jr. of Waunakee drove to fourth ahead of Chad Reimer of Watertown. Lincoln Keeser of Milton scored his first win of the season in the 20-lap hobby stock feature. Keeser raced from his sixth row starting position to take the lead on lap thirteen and went on to the win. Ken Scott of Rio, who started fourteenth, came on strong to finish in second. John Remsik of Madison also moved up well coming from the sixth row to take third. Chuck Egli of Waterloo followed in fourth. Bill Bush of Jefferson was fifth. Bill Reynolds of Watertown also recorded his first win of the season as he claimed the 12-lap bandits feature. Rick Boyce of Marshall, who led in the early going, followed in second ahead of Allen Petrie Jr. of Sun Prairie. Jim Clark of Watertown took fourth. Terry Tucker of Lake Mills finished in fifth. Rick Verdon of Fitchburg took over the lead on lap five when leader Matthew Wachuta of Brooklyn spun and went on to win his second back up race of the season. Bob Jacobs ran well and finished in second. Mark Remsik of Deerfield took third ahead of Tim Nonn of Belleville. Dave Moore of McFarland was fifth. Jim Jarlsberg of Cambridge led the late models in qualifying at 13.799. Justin Schultz paced the street stocks at 14.656. Ken Scott was quick in the hobby stocks at 15.463. Travis Schneeberg of Marshall had fast time honors for the bandits at 17.158. A total of 105 cars timed in for the evening. Late model heat race victories were registered by Delbert Desjarlais of Columbus, Luke
Hoffman of Madison, Butch Mierendorf of Lake Mills and Jason Dunn. Hoffman also picked up
the win in the consolation. Gene Olson Jr. of Jefferson was victorious in the
semi-feature. Aaron Falbe of Beaver Dam drove to second. John Acker of Spring Green was
third. Hobby stock heat wins were taken by Jason Deppe of Waterloo, Jerry Chapman of Juneau and Grant Lindner of Poynette. Deppe was also victorious in the semi-feature. Eaan Carson of Whitewater drove to second ahead of Kris Schoonover of Janesville. Bill Reynolds and Brandon Riedner of Waunakee raced to the bandit heat race wins. In a special event trailer race, Tom Perry of Columbus survived the mayhem to take the win. Dustin Erickson of Beaver Dam finished second. Racing action continues this Friday night with the Dick Moore Memorial. Feature events will be 50 laps for the late models, 35 laps for the street stocks and 25 laps for the hobby stocks. The Bandits will also be in action. There will be a coin drop for the kids at intermission. |
