Mother Nature Shortens Columbus 151 Program
By Jim Remsik

June 24, 2005; Columbus, WI. - The sky was ominous and the forecast bleak. Just as a flood of optimism came over the speedway, so did the rain. The racing program was considered complete as intermission had already passed. The Hobby Stock, Street Stock, and Late Model feature races were not completed and will be made up at the start of next week's show.

Photo Highlights

Ryan DeStefano topped the sole feature of the evening in the Bandit division. Dustin Ostberg of Slinger and Brad Knapp hailing from Whitewater brought the stock four cylinders up to speed. Ostberg would have the early lead almost though no fault of his own as Andy Bauler of Milton gave him a helping hand in that direction. Stoughton's Rory
Padfield made the leap from sixth to third and then battled Bauler for second. Bauler would open the door for Padfield and Tina Remsik halfway through the eighteen lap event. Around lap ten lightning flashes drew spectator's eyes toward the sky. Just as quickly Ryan DeStefano of Colgate and current point leader Brian Johnson took advantage of an empty outside groove. DeStefano would wrestle the lead from Ostberg on lap fifteen and hold off Johnson for the win. At the line it would be DeStefano, Johnson, Ostberg, Padfield and Remsik.

Bandit heat races were recorded by Matt Reuter and Tyler Kelly of Oregon as well as Brian Johnson who set fast time with a lap of
16.133.

Kevin Zielski of Oconomowoc and Doug Pashrig of West Bend paced the Hobby Stock feature. Pashrig would grab the early lead and hold it throughout a caution and up until the rains came.

Hobby Stock heat race victories were awarded to Nick Newton of Jefferson and Andy Raley of Fall River. Jim Tate Jr. again took fast time at 15.269.

In the Late Model division John Wasserburger recorded the fastest lap of the evening at 13.449 and Rob Rettalick and Tyler James scored wins in the heat races.

Kevin Anderson paced the Street Stock division at 14.168 while Bobbi Bishofberger scored a heat race win.
