Tomlinson began peeking to the inside of Taylor just as the first caution of the event flew on lap six. Using the cone on the restart, Wendt pulled to the outside of Taylor looking for the lead. But a lap later, the second and final caution slowed the field again. Wendt once again pulled even with Taylor on the restart, but on lap nine, Wendt slipped in turn four and handed sole possession of the lead back to Taylor. Wendt regrouped and charged to the high side of Taylor a third time. The two competitors battled for six laps until Wendt finally cleared Taylor and took over the top spot. Wendt
immediately began to pull away from the pack as the battle for second raged behind him. Don Gaserude was able to maneuver to second, but as the laps wound down was unable to catch the leader. Wendt crossed under the checkers out front followed by Gaserude, Taylor, Tomlinson and Falbe. Dean Schultz scored fast time on the night with a lap of 13.471. Transferring to the feature via a win in the semi feature was Tylor Schultz while heat winners included John Acker, Wendt and Rocky Breezer.

Brandon Riedner of Waunakee claimed his third feature win of the season in the 30 lap street stock feature event. Riedner began his trek to the front from the inside of row four while Kody Hubred and Dale Weatherwax led the field to green. Hubred took control on the first lap as Weatherwax slid in behind for second. The leaders were battling tightly when Riedner entered the top five on lap 14. Two laps later, Riedner moved to third with point leader Tim Syvrud in tow. On lap 18, Riedner drove to the high side of Weatherwax for second. Riedner made the pass as he charged alongside the leader,
Hubred. A lap later, Riedner was out front with the lead. Syvrud followed his lead as he moved into second with five laps remaining. But Riedner held too much of a lead for Syvrud to make up as they crossed the line first and second. Rounding out the top five were Hubred, Weatherwax and Dan Gosda. Setting the pace in qualifying was Syvrud with a 14.055 second tour of the quarter mile while heat winners were Jim Rohrbeck and Tony Showers.

In hobby stock action, Marshall's Ben Monday claimed top honors in the 15 lap feature event. Starting inside Andy Raley on the front row, Monday claimed the lead after a brief battle and never looked back. Gary Pashley followed Monday into second and shadowed the leader for the opening ten laps. With five to go, Pashley moved to the outside looking to pass. Dustin Ward seized the opportunity and slid to the inside past Pashley. As they saw the checkers, it was Monday for his first career feature win followed by Ward, Kyle Stark, Pashley and Jim Tate. Ward owned fast time with a lap of 15.100 while Monday also won the heat race.

Kyle Watters of Stoughton claimed his sixth feature win of the season with his victory in the 18 lap bandit event. Watters wasted little time moving to the front as he began knocking on the door of the top five on lap three. Keaton Hubred showed the way until the only caution of the race flew on lap six. As the field circled under yellow, Hubred experienced mechanical difficulties and was forced to retire. This handed the lead over to Matt Klenz on the restart. His lead was short lived as upon the return of the green flag, Watters motored past second place Mike Clapper and around Klenz for the lead. Watters maintained his advantage, crossing the line in first followed by Clapper, Klenz, Stephen Scheel and Kenny Christenson. As mentioned, Wasserburger set fast time with a lap of 15.781. Heat winners included Watters and Christenson.

In wild and crazy back up action, Ryan Oetzel dominated all eight laps en route to the feature win. Oetzel claimed the lead on the opening lap with Bruce Havel and Andy Ward in tow. The top three raced in line for all eight laps as they finished first, second and third respectively.

Joining the night's events was the Formula Indy Racing Association. Grant Greenfield of Waupun won another feature as he took top honors in the 20 lap event. Starting outside Vern Brown on the front row, the two did battle until Greenfield took control on the fourth lap. Brown hung back and scouted the leader until lap ten when he launched
his bid for the lead. Shadowing Greenfield, Brown looked high and low for a lane to make the pass, but nothing opened up for his as Greenfield flew past the checkers with Brown close behind for second. Lyle Phillips, John Zeilinga, and Tim Roach rounded out the top five. Brown set quick time on the night with Greenfield taking the heat win.

Next Friday, September 7, is Season Championship night with champions being crowned in all divisions. Following the regular show will be a mechanics race and powder puff race. Please visit www.racingonline.com/columbus151 for more information.
