By Dave Panske

February 23, 2001; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - IMCA modified driver and former door county business owner, Tom Stark, has been hired from a pool of 6, to be the new promoter at the Door County Speedway, formerly Thunder Hill Speedway, located at the Door County Fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay.

In December, former promoter, Rick, Ledvina, gave up his contract and the search was opened for a new promoter.

Tom is scheduling a May 5, 2001 opener at the 1/3 mile clay oval, which is the earliest, since the track re-opened in 1993. The weekly Saturday night programs will again feature four divisions of cars headlined by the Modifieds and Stock Cars under the IMCA sanction. The area Street Stock and local Bomber classes will round out the shows. Start time will remain at 6 PM.

The track is also scheduling a tentative date for an open practice for Saturday, April 21, to co-inside with an inspection day at the track. Final plans will be released as the weather dictates for the spring.

An open meeting was held at the Reef Supper Club in Sturgeon Bay on Wednesday night, February 28th. with information available for all divisions and general operating procedures. A workers meeting will be scheduled to be held in a couple weeks.

The track has built a strong program over the past eight seasons and the future should be positive under Starks leadership.

Tom may be reached at the Door County Speedway phone number 920-868-1863, or contact P.O. Box 476 Egg Harbor, WI  54209.
