Door County Speedway preparing for
busy 2001 season!

April 17, 2001; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - Work is progressing at the Door County Speedway, formerly Thunder Hill Speedway, getting the 1/3 mile clay oval in shape for their inspection and practice day set for Saturday, April 21.

Crews will be at the track starting at 9 AM Saturday for the safety inspection on all cars that are planning on competing in the weekly Saturday night racing programs. At 12 noon, the track will open for an open practice for those wishing to get their cars ready for the fast approaching season.

Track promoters, Tom Stark and Todd Jensen are busy putting the final touches on the track. Clay was added and the track regraded over the past few weeks . The guard rail along the back straight is being extended and replaced from turn two down the back chute. The lighting is also being re-set to better light the track.

The weekly programs are set to start the 2001 season on Saturday night, May 5. IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, Street Stock and Bomber divisions will again make up the weekly shows. Racing gets underway at 6PM every week.

The Door County Speedway is located at the Door County Fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay.
