Inspections take place at
Door County Speedway!
By Dave Panske

April 21, 2001; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - The Door County Speedway held their first official event of the year with an inspection day at the track. Over 80 cars rolled through the inspection lines throughout the day. All four divisions were well represented, getting ready for the start of the season on May 5th.

There was supposed to be a practice session in the afternoon, but the county failed to get the water main hooked up, so with no water for the track that plan had to be scapped.

The IMCA Modifieds will again head the weekly Saturday night racing programs. Todd Dart claimed his second track championship in three seasons last year sharing the honor with Randie Back, who won his first track title. Both will return to try to grab a solo title.

The IMCA Stock Cars will again share the bill with Benji LaCrosse ready to take on the tough division in a new car, after winning his first career track title last year.   The Street Stock division had its first repeat champion in Gregg Siebold last year. He claimed the title in 1996 and looks to defend this season.

The Bomber division will be wide open this season as defending champion, Greg Soukup, is moving up into a modified.

The season starts on Saturday night, May 5th and runs through September 15th. Racing at the l/3 mile clay oval starts at 6 PM every Saturday night.  The track is located at the Door County Fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay.
