Downpour Dampens Door County Speedway Action!
By Dave Panske

August 24, 2002; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - A heavy downpour hit the track at 4 PM, putting the near race ready 1/3 mile oval under water which forced the Door County Speedway to cancel their scheduled race program Saturday night.

This leaves one night of racing on the 2002 schedule, which will determine the championships in each division.

Jared Siefert holds a 7 point margin over Dan Ratajczak in the modified division. Siefert is looking for his first ever track title. Former title holder, George Henkel is only 12 back in third and could be a contender if either driver has problems.

Craig Paque is the defending IMCA Stock Car champion and entering next week is a 9 point leader over former champ, Benji LaCrosse.

Kevin Sternard has led the Street Stock division from opening night and sits with a commanding 39 point margin over Aaron Thornton. All Sternard has to do is enter next weeks program to seal his first career title.

Only 15 point separate the top five in the Bomber division. Scott Reinhardt holds a 9 point lead over John Knudson while Corey Haen is 10 back, Wayne Moore 12 back and Greg Aregoni is 15 marks behind. It will be up to the feature finish to determine this years champ. Any one of these drivers will be a first time champion.

Racing next week will start at 6 PM at the Door County Speedway.
