Door County Speedway Set For Action
This Saturday Night! April 29, 2002; Sturgeon Bay, WI. - The Door County Speedway will open their 2002 racing season this Saturday night, May 4. The IMCA Modifieds will again head the weekly programs along with the IMCA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Bombers. The weekly programs start at 6 PM. There have been a couple improvements this season. The track was resurfaced after last season as work continues to complete the re-building of the track started last season. The back straight has been rounded out with the addition of a concrete wall along the back chute, replacing the trouble some guard rail. Work has started to install the new MUSCO track lighting system. It will take a couple weeks to complete the project, but the old system will be used until then. About 40 cars turned out for an inspection and practice this past Saturday and there have been several requests for numbers for new drivers. The 1/3 mile clay track is located at the Door County Fairgrounds in Sturgeon Bay. Track info line is 920-868-1863 or check out the web at racingonline. |
