Ken Jay Feidler of Sheboygan Falls collected his second 30 lap Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Winged Super Modified feature victory of the year in the third annual Pat Rand Memorial Race of Champions at Sheboygan County Fair Park Saturday night.

Fiedler, who started on the pole, dueled with outside front row starter Paul Pokorski of West Bend throughout the first two laps of the headline event before he finally surged into the lead along the low groove on lap 3.

The first of two red flags appeared on lap 5 for the stalled machines of Kiel's Dave Enders and Brad Dahmer of Sheboygan. Four laps later, the red came out again for a spin in turn two involving Jim DePagter of Sheboygan Falls.
Following the restart, Fiedler began to open up a half-straightaway advantage over the rest of the 20 car feature field.

The seventh year EWSC Winged Super Modified driver maintained a solid lead over the final 20 circuits on the way to his second career feature victory at the Plymouth track.
Fourth starter Kevin Schnell of Kiel was second, Randy Butler of Juneau charged up from the 13th starting spot to place third, nine-time Limited Late Model champion Gary Laack of Glenbeulah placed fourth and Pokorski wound up fifth.
Keith Borth of Sheboygan posted his second 25 lap feature victory of the season in the Limited Late Model division.

Outside front row starter Mark Zimmermann of Kohler grabbed the lead in the second corner of the opening lap. On the next circuit, the fourth starting Borth powered around Zimmermann exiting turn four.
Borth the proceeded to build up a solid half-straightaway cushion over Zimmermann by the half-way point of the race. The 15 year Limited Late Model veteran began to work to his way through the tail end of the field beginning on lap 18 while defending division champion Steve Hoffmann of Plymouth raced into second place from the eighth starting slot.

Five laps later, Hoffmann pulled in to pressure Borth as the lead group threaded its way through heavy lapped traffic. Hoffmann tried to take over the lead using the high and low grooves during the final two circuits, but Borth held on at the finish line to record a two car length triumph in the non-stop event.
Hoffmann was second, Zimmermann placed third, polesitter Dave Jessen of Fredonia wound up fourth and Sheboygan's Steve Ziegelbauer took fifth.

Dean Gosse, of Howards Grove earns his first Super Stock victory of the season. The win was his second career victory. His only other feature win came exactly one year ago during the same Pat Rand Memorial race. |
Dean Gosse of Howards Grove picked up his initial feature of the 1997 campaign in the 20 lap Super Stock feature.
Polesitter Bob Duncan of Sheboygan paced the field in the early stages of the race before the sixth starting Gosse rode the outside groove into the top spot on lap 5. The third year Super Stock driver powered away from the competition while the rest of the pack waged a heated battle for the top ten finishing positions.
Gosse went on to notch a full straightaway margin of victory in the red flag free race over 1996 co-Super Stock track champion Tim Thompson of Campbellsport, who started 10th.
Ninth starter Doug Teunissen of Oostburg finished third, Duncan was fourth and Mark Brass of Sheboygan rounded out the top-five.

Randy Butler won the 15 lap Winged Super Modified B semi-feature and Slinger's Tommy Johnson was victorious in the 8 lap Winged Super Modified C semi-feature. Howie Weiss of Glenbeulah notched the victory in the 15 lap Limited Late Model semi-feature. Two-time Super Stock track champion Steve Schad of Cleveland won the 15 lap Super Stock semi-feature.
