Manitowoc Expo Loses Second Show of Young Season.

May 24, 1998; Manitowoc, WI. - Racing action was cancelled at the Manitowoc County Expo Raceway Sunday night, due to day long rains and wet track conditions.  The cancellation marked the second show to be nixed so far this year.

The United Midwestern Promoters' ( UMP ) Late Models will hit the track this Sunday night, May 31st, with a strong field of cars expected from throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.  Qualifying is set to begin at 5:30 p.m., with the first green flag to fall at 6:00 p.m.

Also scheduled to compete with the late models will be IMCA-style modifieds, dirt sportsman, and two-man cruiser cars. Gates will open at 3:00 pm with late modet qualifying set for 5:30 pm and racing at 6:00 pm.

Manitowoc County Expo is located just off Highway 151 and I-43 in Manitowoc.  The third-mile banked clay oval is located on the Manitowoc County Fairgrounds.  Weekly Sunday night racing continued throughout the summer.
