Rain Cancels 360 Sprint Debut.. IRA Sprints NEXT!!

July 27, 1997; Manitowoc, WI.

Rain forced the cancellation of what was going to be a fun and exciting night of racing at the Manitowoc County Expo Raceway. Before the rains came fans enjoyed a race car show hosted by the raceway. The show which was well received by the fans had over 25 cars in attendance with examples from all five of the Raceways regular classes.

Also on hand for the evenings program were the "360" Sprints. These cars are full fledged Sprint Cars complete with front wing, the only limitation is the motors are designed be be more affordable by limiting displacement.

Nearly 20 of these cars were on hand for their debut at the track. The next appearance of the 360 Sprints will be on August 10th. Rain checks from this weeks program will be honored then.

Next week on August 3rd, 1997, will be the return of the IRA "Outlaw" Sprint Cars. These cars last raced at Manitowoc two years ago before the track design was changed to it's current 1/3 mile-high banked clay design.

The IRA Sprints are a touring series which competes in five area states. Top drivers include Mike Frost, Joe Roe, Kim Mock and former EWSC Super Modified Champion and current IRA Point leader Donny Goeden.

Hot laps will begin at 5:00 P.M. with the first race taking place at 6:00 P.M.
