June 15, 1997; Manitowoc, WI.
Racing at the Manitowoc County Expo Raceway, suffered it's first rainout of the 1997 racing season.
Racing in the Street Stock, Hobby Stock, IMCA "Outlaw" Modifies and Winged Super Modifieds will take place again next Sunday evening. Pit gates will open at 3:00 PM, with hot laps to begin at 6:00 P.M. and the first race to start at 7:00 P.M.
There were a good number of cars on hand for the for the evening races, and the track was in excellent racing condition . Rain however during the national anthem got heavier as the evening progressed and the races were forced to be cancelled.
The track now has improved watering equipment and the track lighting system is up and will be operational for next weeks events. The track has been completely reconstructed from last season, and it is now a banked 1/3 mile clay oval. The extremely wide turns will allow for three abreast racing. A new track P.A. system will be installed soon and additional improvements will be made throughout the season!
