Dan Nelson of
Brillion, WI celebrated the Fourth of July by winning
$500 from Expo Raceway promoter John Martin Kwitek. Nelson won a hard fought battle with Rick Otte taking the win on the final lap of the 25 lap Super Stock feature race. |
The 25 lap Super Stock feature was won by Dan Nelson of Brillion as he claimed the $500 winning award for the event. Pole-sitter Rick Otte took the early lead in this caution free event as Nelson followed closely in pursuit. The pair weaved their way through lapped traffic as Nelson stayed within a car length of the leader. On the 23rd lap, Nelson made his move on the low groove as Otte slipped high.
Otte fought back and rode Nelson's bumper tightly for the final two laps of the race. Brian Genske finished a strong third, Mike Anderson claimed fourth and Todd Krause rounded out the top five.
Shaun Olsen of Algoma overtook polesitter Kirk Shillcox and led all 15 laps in the Street Stock feature. Dale Cabon, Joe Casadonte, Shillcox and Wade Belongia rounded out the top five.
A special Super Stock dash race was won by Dan Nelson with Todd Krause finishing a close second.
Crew members replaced their drivers in the 10-lap Keil Auto and Radiator mechanic's race. Dan Mahlberg took the lead off the outside pole and was closely pressed by veterans Dave Otte, Jim Bailey, and Rick Hed. Mahlberg brought out the event's only caution on lap five as his motor expired going down the backstretch. Otte inherited the lead off the restart and lead the event the rest of the way.
