Ken Jay Fiedler takes $1,000 Super Modified Win!

Seeking the biggest payoff in the Midwest for Winged Super Modifieds, Ken Jay Fiedler motored along the high groove to claim the $1,000 to win, 30 lap feature at the "One of a Kind" Manitowoc County Expo Speedway on Sunday Night.

The BIG WIN! Ken Jay Fiedler used the outside lane to victory around the 1/3 mile high banked Manitowoc Expo Raceway to win the "Challenge Race" for the Winged Super Modified division. The win was his second in a 24 hour peroid as he won the night before in action at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds.

Brian Van Scoy of Frankville took the early lead until Todd Scholz spun on lap 6, bringing out the first caution of the event. On the restart Alex Crimmings and Billy Kreutz slipped underneath VanScoy, with Kreutz quickly taking the lead.

Winged Super Modifieds battle for the front in the $1,000 to win feature race. Bill Kreutz (#3) slids under Chuck Tuschl (#99) for the lead. Kreutz would lead the event until a cut tire would slow his pace. Ken Jay Fiedler was the eventual winner!

Kreutz built up a commanding lead until a cut tire slowed his pace, allowing Crimmings and 12th place starter Fiedler to catch up. Crimmings, Kreutz and Fiedler went three-wide for the lead, with Crimmings bringing out the caution as his car got hung up on a berm on the inside of the track.

On the restart Fiedler motored on to victory with Bill Wenninger second, Barry Maas third, Steve Bricker fourth and VanScoy rounding out the top five positions.

A new visitor to Expo Raceway. Rick Scheffler took home the victory in the 20 lap Outlaw Modified feature event. Scheffler is no doubt tuning up for the upcoming $1,000 to win Outlaw Modified challenge race.

Ninth place starter Rick Scheffler won the 20-lap Outlaw Modified feature as Dave Otte and Jerry Wenzel closely followed in second and third. Tight four wide action early on in the race made for an exciting event as Scheffler, Otte and Wenzel worked their way to the front.

Super Stock Action! Greg Haese (#30) made his first appearance of the season worthwhile as he powered home to victory in the Super Stock featurer event.

Greg Haese won his first 15 lap Super Stock feature of the season at the newly designed racetrack being closely followed by Robert Grasse and third place Dan Nelson. Mid-race cautions kept the racing tight throughout the event. Anthony Miller and Dan Holm rounded out the top five finishers.

Street Stock Winner! Kevin Shillcox powered his way to the front to pick up the Street Stock feature victory!

Kevin Shillcox worked his way through heavy traffic to seal his first 15 lap Street Stock feature. Tom Leonard finished second, with Bob Stadler, Rick Eisenberger and Dale Carbon claiming the top five spots.

Next week, Sunday evening July 13th, there will be a special IMCA Outlaw Challenge event with a chance to win $1,000. The cars are based on IMCA rules and follow those rules with the exception that drivers may add a roof wing. Hot laps on the 1/3 mile banked oval are set to begin at 6:00 P.M. and the first race is to start at 7:00 P.M.

Racing will also take place in the Winged Super Modifieds, Super Stock, Street Stock and Crusier divisions. The track is located just outside of Manitowoc, at the Manitowoc County Fairgrounds near the intersections of Highway 151 and Interstate 43.
