May 12, 2001; Freeport, IL - Modifieds started the night off with Kenny Kostenbader taking the lead and win for the 1st heat race with J Ryan going for a ride over the dirt wall separating the track and pit road. The 2nd heat race went to Scott Lemke leading the complete race. The 3rd heat race win went to Scott Holbert also lead the entire race. B-Main race winner was the #03 Of Chuck Turner. Turner started 6th in the 5
car field and went to the lead by lap #3 and stayed there until the end. Modified main feature started on a different note.
With 16 cars starting the race. Upon there coming out of turn #4 to start the race the #98
of Rodney Vautsmeier spun collecting 5 other cars. Which
were Mike Garland, Scott Strohecker, Josh Vinnedge, Pat Gillespie and Ryan Dolan. Garland and Gillespie being the ones that
were able to continue the race. After
that the Modified feature went caution free. Mike
Miller and Scott Holbert trading the lead 3 times through the 15 lap feature. With Scott Holbert taking the lead from Miller on
the last lap and the win. Sportsman action had Matt Rodebaugh
taking the 1st heat win after starting in the back row outside. The 2nd heat race and feature wins went to
last years sportsmans points Dana Eastabrooks. Eastabrooks lead all but one lap of between
both races. Late Model action had Steve Morgan win
the first heat race. Troy Bruder passed Brad
Stewart 6th lap of the 2nd heat to take the lead and win.
The 3rd heat went to the 32d of Darren Miller taking the lead from lap 3. The feature started with Dan Galant
taking the lead for the first 12 laps. The
lead then went to Darren Miller for the rest of the 20 lap feature. The feature ended on a differnt note with one of
the light poles catching fire causing the fire dept to come and take care of the problem. The bleachers needing to be cleared due to the
pole being next to it. The feature was
on the 20th lap when the last caution came out prior to
Troy Bruder hitting the wall in turn #1. Hobby Stock saw Gary Blume make a clean
sweep for both the heat and feature races. With
Ed Williams Jr. taking 2nd in both. Pure Stock Action saw both heat race
winners take the lead from the moment the green flag flew until the checker flag flew. Neal Stange won the 1st heat and Chuck Griffen won
the 2nd. George Arand took the lead from Roy
Downing on lap 2 of the feature and never looked back.
