Weather stops 1999 Lake Geneva Raceway opener cold!

By Dale R. Erdmann

April 10, 1999; Lake Geneva, WI. - Two days ago, temperatures hit the mid-70's, but Saturday nights 1999 season opener at Lake Geneva Raceway was cancelled at 6 pm. The reason? Hail, that left the ground white, rain mixed with snow and a cold east wind, that brought the wind chill down to 20 degrees.

"This is no way to start the season", stated Kevin Dawson the owner and prromoter of the big racing complex in Southeastern Wisconsin.  Next Saturday night April 17th. the super late models and McHenry Limo super stocks will be joined by the Performance Unlimited sportsman in a full race program. The raceway's junior fan club will sponsor, the rides in the race carsfor the children.

The raceway will not increase admission to the spectator grandstand this season. Adults will remain just $8, with juniors 8 to 14, just half price and children under 8 will again be free with any paid adult ticket.

The junior fan club was established back in 1985, and parents are urged to sign the children up and bring them to the raceway for all the club benefits
