Career Super Late Model feature win #1! Bill Fisher (#2) celebrates his first ever Super Late Model main event win at Lake Geneva Raceway. He is joined by a lucky fan in the winner's circle after the event. |
The super late model feature brought Mike Simon Jr. in front, with Joe Fischer, Russ Blakley, Billy Baumeister and Bob Moeller, trying to gain pavement. Fisher slipped in front the next go round, with Simon and Blakley dueling for second. Moeller dropped out on lap five, as Garrett Fait and Brad Durbin brought out the first caution one lap later. Again Fisher walked the field on the restart, Jeff Storm started to inch forward, grabbing fourth on lap nine.
Jamie Wallace crept around Baumeister one lap later, as Danny Darnell and Al Schill tried to move up. On the start of lap eleven, Wallace had something let go bringing the race to another halt. Simon Jr. got loose two laps after the restart, while running second. This caused another stop in the action.
With movement around the oval, Storm was up to second on lap seventeen. Each time, Fisher charged back in front. Dicing for a position, Storm picked off second place, Blakley, with just nine laps to go. Al Schill got around Darnell with Just one lap to go. Fisher looked impressive picking up his first win . Storm was second, with Blakley, then Darnell nipping Schill, with Kent Burkoth, Randy Rodgers and Baumeister rounding out the top eight.
| Taking the lead! Bill Fisher (#2) slips under Mike Simon Jr., early in the Super Late Model main event to take the lead. Fisher would pace the remaining distance to the checkered flag to score the win. | ![]() |
Jeremy Tess shot out front of the 20 car, super stock feature, with Scott Eggebrecht, Greg Janutka and Todd Peterson next. Janutka led lap four, before Greg Peterson moved under him. The side by side pace, left Marry Robb stranded in third, but somehow, the second year driver slipped into second, then the lead, before lap eleven.
Quickly Robb built up a one car advantage, with lots of movement behind him. Regnier looked like he'd settle for second, but with four laps to go, he was knocking on the leaders door. The lead changed with just three laps to go. Before the checkered, Regnier held back numerous challenges from Zac Deeringer, who ended up settling for second. John Janssen, Robb, Greg Peterson, Eggebrecht, Janutka and Katie Taylor completed the top eight.
Nick Schumacher and LeRoy Potter fought for the lead of the sportsman feature, at the drop of the double greens. Schumaoher led three laps, before Potter led the next two. Then Eric Roberts inched in front, with something happening on lap eight.
Coming off turn four, someone got out of square. Everyone tried to miss each other, with Jerry Freeman crashing hard into a spun Brian Baker. Freeman escaped injury, but his race car had extensive damage. Six other drivers were involved, with first nighter Jacko Terrault and Baker receiving the most damage, never returning to the field, along with Freeman who was also sidelined.

| Whoops?! The Sportsman feature race saw extensive use of the tow trucks to separate a pile of cars which included Monty Cauffman (#2), Brian Baker (#32) and Jerry Freeman (#61). None of the drivers were injured in the tangle. | |
Roberts charged back in front , with Potter not giving up. With many challenges, Potter looked like he'd be back on top, until a lap eleven spin put him out of contention. Roberts led three more laps, but Scotty Poritz was hooked up, taking over the top spot on lap fourteen. Before long, Rick Corso gained second, but time ran out, as Poritz won the event, Corso was second with Roberts, Dan Erikson, Patrick Marcott, Brad Troxel Mike Lange and Potter next.
Kip Novotny took the lead from second year driver Chris Carlson on lap three. Winning the event by over a straightaway ahead of Carlson. Dave Colletti was third, with heat winner Bob Torkelson next, in the Rascal Outlaw feature.
Next week Alko Woodcrafters presents three divisions of action this coming Saturday night. The sport trucks join the super late models and super stocks, along with one on one challenge races for street cars to conclude the program.
