Jamie Wallace (#87) - won won the 1992 Late Model champion at Lake Geneva Raceway made his way to the winners circle after a hard fought win after holding back the challenges of fast timer Randy Rogers. |
A false start sent cars everywhere at the start of the Super Late Model main event, as Jerry Mueller spun, with newcomer Ryan Hanson just missing him.
Once everyone got back into position, pole sitter Garrett Fait slipped in front, with Bob Moeller, Billy Baumeister, Mueller and Denny Hiffman all over him. By lap five, Baumeister inched to second, with Wallace already fifth. It still looked like a parade lap by lap ten, with Wallace and Brad Durbin still climbing.
Out front Fait looked flawless, but on lap fourteen, the first of three cautions stopped the intense pace, as Hiffman spun in turn three. Danny Darnell came to a halt just missing the stalled car. During an earlier evening drivers meeting, the single file restart was chosen due to the nearly two inches of rain that fell during the week.
Underway again, Fait maintained the top spot, as Mueller had something let loose, causing him to spin off of turn two. Before the incident ended , Mueller hit the protection tire hard, causing extensive damage to his race car. Mueller was checked by the EMT's and released . This lengthy slow down must have caused the top top runners tires to cool alittle too much. With just two more laps in, Fait and Baumeister made contact and that was the break Wallace needed, as the final caution appeared.

Wallace hung on for the win, as Rodgers did all he could to keep the pressure on, finishing second. Kent Burkoth, Billy Skinner Jr., Bob Moeller, Brad Durbin , Al Schill Sr. and first timer Ryan Hanson rounded out the top eight, in a very chose contest.
In the super stock 20 car feature, Greg Peterson got turned to the right with everyone missing him, but causing a complete restart. Another green and Don Radke moved out front, with Bert Getchell, Marty Robb, Jerry Cornelison and Jeff Lornez all over him. Getchell crept in front on lap five , but on lap seven Radke was back as the leader

From the rear John Janssen, fast timer Zac Derringer and Adam Regnier wound through the field and by midway through the race. The top three could feel the pressure. Lorenz inched in front on lap eleven , with Janssen working on Radke. Pulling off a great move, somehow Janssen grabbed the lead on lap thirteen. It wasn't an easy run to victory, as Derringer got by Lorenz on lap seventeen, as did Regnier one lap later.

Once in front Erikson drove a great race. Swan, Scotty Poritz , Rick Corso and Tim Schmitt were all within striking distance.
