May 24, Lake Geneva, WI.
For the third time this young season, officials at Lake Geneva Raceway cancelled the weekly Saturday night race program.
With nearly 60 cars in the pit area, the special race program of Performance Unlimited Mid-American/Sportsman, Herb's Street Stock, Allison Legacy race car series cars and Mini-Modifieds, had the plug pulled at 6:30 P.M.
The weather service said a new storm was coming in from the south. From 5:50 P.M. until that time, a storm from the Northwest dumped a huge amount of rain in the area. Then, the service stated it would be all over by 6:40 P.M.
By 6:20 P.M. there was rain coming from the south too. "usually after we cancel, it clears up, but not tonight!", stated Kevin Dawson the owner of the facility. By 9:30 P.M. the rain was over, but cold north winds, brought tempratures down to 40 degrees within one hour.
Next Friday night over 300 moto cross riders will compete on the stadium dirt course at 8:00 P.M.
On the action oval, racing will include Super Late Models, Street Stocks, Sport Trucks and the Mini-Modifieds will make their season debut. There will be no increase in admission prices. Time Trials will begin at 6:00 P.M. and the first race is at 7:30 P.M. sharp. The phone number is (414) 248-8566
