July 5, 1997; Lake Geneva, WI.

The largest crowd ever to witness an oval track show at Lake Geneva Raceway, jammed the grandstands of Lake Geneva Raceway for the second night of the Herb's All American 100 ARTGO race program.

Jim Weber of Roseville, MN won the 100 lap feature race, his first victory of the season. Another veteran racer Dave Gruenberg of Madison, WI, won the first ever Midwest Truck Series feature at Lake Geneva Raceway, while Rolf Tillman of Woodstock, IL took a clean sweep in the XLC 102.3 Sport Truck division.

The ARTGO Race report will be online at a later date.

Brian Class moved out front of the Midwest Truck Series main event, with Troy Yohn and Chad DeSelle behind him. It was side by side excitement as DeSelle came alongside the leader on lap two and they races the next seven laps in that formation.

On lap nine DeSelle grabbed the lead, but Class came back one more time to pace round ten. DeSelle took the top one final time before Adam Shackelford used the outside line to gain the top spot.

With five laps to go, the field was getting tighter, as Gruenberg moved into second. Fast timer Rick Nelson didn't let Gruenberg get too comfortable moving alongside Gruenberg. With one lap to go Nelson, Gruenberg and Shackelford all could have won the exciting event. Coming off turn two, with just a half lap left in the event, Gruenberg edged out front.

Gruenberg managed to hold the lead to the line by a bumpers length over Shackelford, while Nelson settled for third on the three wide finish. John Wood came home a close fourth as Dan Harris nipped John Ruckers for fifth.

Frank Caravetta led just five laps of the Sport Truck feature, before Tillman moved out front to take the win. Dave Shine nipped Butch Edwards Jr. for second, with Caravetta fourth, Joel Filtz fifth and Jim Phillips sixth. The win completed a clean sweep of events for Tillman.

Lake Geneva Raceway would like to thank Bill Damron owner of Herb;s Used Auto and Cycle Parts, in Lake Villa, IL for his support of this show and to the record number of fans who attended this great two day event!
