December 4, 1997; Lake Geneva, WI. - With the first sign of snow, things are really getting busy at Lake Geneva Raceway's office out on Bloomfield Road in Lake Geneva, WI.
Kicking off the 1998 season will be the 21st. annual BARS "Let's Go Racing" Show at the Lakehurst Mall in Waukegan, IL which will run this year from March 25th through March 29th, 1998. Then on Saturday night, April 4th, 1998, the 33rd season of oval track racing opens up on the world's fastest one third mile paved oval, with three divisions of weekly action.
This season the Super Late Models in their second full year here, along with the Street Stocks will race every Saturday Night but one through October 10th when the 1998 racing season will conclude with the Annual "Run What Ya Brung" show.
The third division will alternate between the Mid-American Sportsman, Allison Legacy Cars or the LGR Sport Trucks.
The small cars will again hold their World Championships here on October 2nd, 1998. That evening of racing will open up the 3 day October Classic, which will run on October 3rd and 4th 1998. Last year over 300 cars participated in the program.
The small cars will also run on Sunday's with an early evening show, beginning in June and running until September.
Other plans will be announced soon. The 1998 schedule should include some 60 shows. Including and off road SODA sanctioned event on Memorial Day weekend. Weekly moto cross races, a ARTGO Super Late Model program, three Mid-American Stock Car Series tour point events, in additions to the previously mentioned October Classic and "Run What Ya Brung" shows.
