By Dale R. Erdmann

April 12, 1997; Lake Geneva, WI.

For the second week in a row, officials at Lake Geneva Raceway were forced to cancel the season opener. Over 4 inches of snow fell on the racetrack during the evening hours Friday and then around 11 am Saturday even more snow began falling.

The 1997 Season Opener is now rescheduled for Saturday evening, April 19th. Racing will take place in the Super Late Model and Street Stocks, with Sport Trucks and Mid-American/
Sportsman divisions filling up the program. Time Trials are slated for 6:00 PM. The first race of the year will take place at 7:30 PM sharp.

This sign which greets race fans entering Lake Geneva Raceway grounds has not had the chance to greet many fans this season.

The gray skies and wet grounds have been dominating the early race season at Lake Geneva Raceway. Next week on April 19th, the season opener will hopefully take place!

Other than 1990 when the new track was completed, this will be one of the latest season openers in recent memory.
