Danny Darnell wins the non-stop Late Model feature!! Darnell charged out front of the Late Model feature event which ran from green to checkered without interruption. Darnell's win was his first of the season. |
The 18 car super late model feature timed within .438 seconds from back to front,as Darnell charged out front, with Joe Fischer, Dennis Vito and Eddie May close behind. By lap eight, Bobby Fox and Landry Potter joined the fray, as Darnell started to pull away from the field. Lap ten saw, May finally get along side Vito, with a tight field all the way round. On lap eleven May touched the back on Fischer's mount, causing a portion of his nose piece to lodge in Fischer's tail. Racing continued as Potter edged up along side May, then Vito and by lap fifteen Fischer knew he was there.
Two laps later Al Schill who didn't get any breaks in the action, in his quest for the lead after staring in the eighth row outside, was now breathing down Potter's bumper. The first and only car to be lapped came on lap twenty, as Darnell and Potter raced side by side. Right behind them, Schill, May and Fox were dicing for third. The crowd went wild, as Potter took the lead. On lap 24, Fox spun off turn two but the seasoned veteran quickly got back in the chase and didn't cause a caution.
Quick timer Jamie Wallace was now in Fox's place, with every position too close to call. This pace continued to the very end, as Darnell came home to his first feature of the season. Potter was second, with Schill, Randy Rodgers, May and Wallace next. A post inspection dropped Potter from the event for too much compression. This moved Kent Burkoth to sixth.
| Tommy Nevoso has been on a roll of
late. Nevoso had briefly led the Super Stock point standings about a month ago,
before losing the top spot. So far this year, Nevoso, Adam Regnier and John Janssen
have all held the spot. Nevoso had a good performance tonight also setting quick time. That effort helped put him back out front of the standings. |
